Milton R. Larson

Milton Richard Larson, of West Barnstable, and previously of Stoneham, died peacefully in his sleep of heart disease on Thursday, Oct. 7, 2010, at the Cape Regency Nursing Home in Centerville. He was 85. Born in Woburn on July 19, 1925, he was the son of the late Carl Waldemar Larson, and the late Clara (Akeson) Larson. Mr. Larson attended Tufts University and was owner of a longtime family business, Carl Larson & Son, Bank and School Supplies. Milton was an avid sailor and a member of the Boston Yacht Club in Marblehead for 50 years. He was a member of four classic car clubs and spent years restoring a 1941 Lincoln Continental convertible that he showed frequently, winning regional and national awards. He had a deep appreciation of antiques and collected many colonial pieces. Milton moved to West Barnstable in 1982, where he had a replica colonial home custom built. In addition to his parents, Milton was preceded in death by two sisters, Dorothe Lindemann and Helen Dierdorff. He is survived by four generations of nieces and nephews, the six immediate being, Jeffery French of Bakersfield, Calif., Morey French of Laguna Woods, Calif., Kristina Carpenter of Laguna Woods, Irv Dierdorff of Fountain Valley, Calif., Christofer Dierdorff of Los Angeles and Lisa Dierdorff, of Glendale, Calif. A graveside service will be held Saturday, Oct. 23, at 11:30 a.m., at the Woodbrook Cemetery, 100 Salem St., Woburn. A celebration of life will be held Sunday, Oct. 24, at 2 p.m., at Milton's home in West Barnstable. Arrangements are by the Graham Funeral Home, 3 Arlington Road, Woburn.
