C. Mepham Obituary

MEPHAM The Rev. C. Andrew, 89, of Lexington, died on May 19, 2014. Father Mepham was born June 24, 1924 in Pittsburgh PA, was a retired Episcopal Priest and an active member of the Church of St. Michael the Archangel. He was preceded in death by his wife of 39 years, Florence. He is survived by his wife's nephew, Richard Thomas (Judy), his closest friends Fr. Johnnie Ross, Fr. Albert Brooks (Carmen), Jonathan Brooks and Beverley Scott, loving companion Ruth Kitchen, healthcare advocate Tish Platt, members of LAPSA, and his many friends at St Michaels and the Lafayette Retirement Community. Recognized for his intelligence, academic interests, world travels and fluency in three languages, Father Mepham received a B.S. in Chemistry and Psychology from the University of Pittsburgh, an M.D. from Columbia University and a Bachelors in Sacred Thelogy, from General Theological Seminary in New York City. He did graduate work at Oxford University where he served as Chaplain, was a Monk of the Order of the Holy Cross, Professor of Pastoral Theology at St. Andrew's Seminary, Mexico City and served as Rector of St. Thomas' Church, Wharton, TX, Chaplain at Lamar University, Prairie View A&M and St. Francis Episcopal Church, Prairie View, TX. He retired to Lexington in 1990 serving as supply priest to several congregations in the Diocese of Lexington. A memorial service will be held on Thursday, May 29, 2014, 11am, at the Church of St. Michael the Archangel.
