Esther Geyer

Esther Geyer (Zecchini) age 89 of Braintree, passed into the arms of her Lord on Sunday, Feb. 27, 2011 surrounded by her loving family. Born in Braintree on Nov. 10, 1921, daughter of the late Peter and Inez (Canelli) Zecchini, she graduated salutatorian from Braintree High School. She went on to Burdett Secretarial School. She was married to the late Herlin "Chuck" Geyer for 55 years. She was winner of a High School Spelling Bee and always an avid reader. Esther was a gentle and loving mother whose greatest joys were her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Her selfless, considerate nature toward others endeared her to all. She was active with the Braintree Senior Center until moving to Grove Manor where she loved to play scrabble, trivia, and bingo. Esther will be deeply missed by her children Richard and his wife Beverly of Bow, NH, Meg Strode and her husband Lindsay of Harwich, MA; daughter-in-laws Mary Geyer of Weymouth, and Regina Geyer of Portland, OR; 17 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren. Esther was predeceased by her daughter Karen Geyer, and sons James and Kenneth Geyer. Funeral service will be held for both Esther and her son Kenneth at the No. Weymouth McDonald Funeral Home at 40 Sea St. (off Rte. 3-A at Bicknell Sq.) on Thursday, March 3, 2011 at 11:00 a.m. Interment will follow in Blue Hill Cemetery, Braintree.
