Ernest Huntoon Obituary

Ernest E. "Ernie" Huntoon, Jr., 93, of Orleans, Mass. and formerly of Mentor died Monday, August 1, 2011 at Mill Creek Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Galion. Born Aug. 27, 1917 in Chelsea, Mass., he was the son of the late Ernest E. and Lillian (McPhee) Huntoon. He was preceded in death on January 30, 1990 by his wife, Barbara (Kelloway) Huntoon whom he married on September 9, 1940. Ernie was a World War II United States Army veteran having served in the European Theatre in counter intelligence. He was a long time Rotarian and American Legion member in Orleans, Mass. and loved to dance, play bridge and walk on the beach. While in Mentor he was a member of Mentor United Methodist Church. He was vice-president of an insurance agency in Cleveland specializing in underwriting large commercial and medical liability insurance coverage. He is survived by one daughter and son-in-law, Deborah and Russell Wiseman of Galion; one son and daughter-in-law, Richard and Barbara Huntoon of Mentor, Ohio; five grandchildren, Major Andrew (Lisa) Huntoon, U.S.A.F., Kevin Huntoon, Scott Huntoon, Lesley (Harry) Albritton, Sarah Wiseman and four great-grandchildren, Bryce Huntoon and Harry, III, Jack and Benjamin Albritton. He is also survived by his close friend Rita Kneeland of Orleans, Mass. In addition to his wife and parents he was also preceded in death by one brother, Donald Huntoon. A memorial service will be held in Orleans, Mass and announced at a later date. Burial will be in Orleans Cemetery in Orleans, Mass. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the Orleans Fire and Rescue Squad, 58 Eldredge Parkway, Orleans, Mass. 02653 Arrangements are in care of Richardson-Davis Funeral Home in Galion.
