Arthur Keith Obituary

Mr. Arthur C. Keith, of Waltham, died Monday, May 21, 2018 at his home. He was 96. Arthur was born in Stoneham on April 4, 1922, a son of the late Arthur C. and Hazel S. (Sweetland) Keith, and moved with his family to Waltham as an infant and remained a lifelong resident. He was a graduate of Waltham High School. During World War II he served with the United States Army in the Pacific Theatre, first in Australia and later in the Philippines. After the war Arthur went to school on the GI Bill and received a degree in accounting from Bentley College, then in Boston. He worked most of his life as a salesman at Newton Buick on Washington Street where many customers became lifelong friends. After retiring he worked part time at Wellesley Buick. Arthur was an accomplished woodworker and handyman whose self-taught skills were in great demand at home and in the neighborhood. When he wasn't at the longtime family home in Waltham his second favorite place to be was at the family cottage in Wellfleet where many happy summer memories were created. His wife of sixty years, Joyce M. (Turner) Keith died October 8, 2006. Arthur leaves his children, Loxi J. Keith and Lorna J. Keith, both of Waltham and his brother-in-law, Sydney J. Turner of Feura Bush, New York. A Funeral Service was held on Friday , May 25th, in The Joyce Funeral Home, 245 Main Street, Waltham. Burial followed in Mount Feake Cemetery, Waltham. Memorial donations may be made to Joyce Keith Scholarship Fund, c/o Principal's Office, Waltham High School, 617 Lexington St., Waltham, 02452. How wonderful it is that you had your dad so long. No one can take your memories away which will bring a smile to your face. I never had the pleasure of meeting your father but heard you speak of him often. You will miss him.

Loxi & Lorna, my deepest condolences. Artie was such a wonderful man and I'm so glad to have known him and heard so many of his stories of courting your mom, his time serving in WW2, and his memories on the Cape with his family.

So long, Artie, Mr. I'm game for anything! Thanks for all the memories, the jokes even if I never got them, and the friendship over so many years. I know you're already dancing down heaven's highway with Joycie and heaven is just that much happier for it!
