Shirley Mulkey Obituary

Shirley Jean Mulkey, age 89 years, of Carver died Thursday, February 4, 2021 in the comfort of her own home. She was the wife of Orville 'Joe' 'OJ' Mulkey and the daughter of the late Ernest C. and Josephine H. (Goehner) Orlowski. Born in Leavenworth, Kansas on April 19, 1931, Shirley was educated in Kansas schools. She also attended Bridgewater State College in Massachusetts and worked as a bookkeeper for Professional Family Child Care until her retirement in 2002. Besides her loving husband Joe, she will be sadly missed by her children, Terry R. Mulkey and his late wife Ann Marie of Brockton, Karen Lynn Swain and her husband Bob of Hull and Cynthia Ann McManus of Carver, her grandchildren Sean McManus Jr, Danielle McManus, Lindsey Haas and her husband Drew and Tanya McManus. She was the great grandmother of Madison, Sophia, Mackenlie and Brennan McManus. Shirley and her husband Joe met at 22 and 23 years old at a dance studio in Kansas City Missouri where Joe was an instructor and Shirley decided to take lessons at. They were happily married for 67 years and in Joe's words, 'It started out right and never changed after all those years.' They lived in Marshfield for many years before moving to Carver in 1996. She was a faithful member and volunteer at Zion Lutheran Church in Plymouth for many years. Shirley was a devout Christian and found joy in dancing, reading the Bible and other materials, watching game shows and spending as much time with her loving family as possible. Visitation with Shirley's family will be on Tuesday, February 9, 2021 in the DAVIS LIFE CELEBRATION FUNERAL HOME, 373 Court Street Plymouth (next to Cordage Park) from 4:00PM | 6:00PM.
