Mary Hoffman Obituary

Mary E. (Fraher) Hoffman, 69, wife of Jacob S. Hoffman, died unexpectedly Sunday morning July 5, 2015 in the Massachusetts General Hospital in Boston after a brief illness. Born in Lynn on July 2, 1946 she was the daughter of the late John T. and Olivia F. (Howley) Fraher. Mary was a communicant and an active volunteer of Our Lady of Hope Catholic Church in Ipswich. She was a graduate of the Katherine Gibbs School in Boston. Mary and her husband Jacob were married in Topsfield on October 26, 1968. She was a stay-at-home mother. She was a very loving and caring wife, mother and grandmother. Mary is survived by, in addition to her husband Jacob of Ipswich, her 4 sons: Michael Hoffman of Mulberry, FL, Daniel Hoffman of Danvers, Stephen Hoffman of Hanover, MA, Gary Hoffman and his wife Karen Costura-Hoffman of Nashua, NH. She is also survived by her 2 grandchildren: David and Brendan Hoffman, her sister Jane Fraher of Topsfield and several nieces and nephews. Mary was also predeceased by her 3 brothers: John Fraher formerly of Topsfield, Paul Fraher formerly of Methuen and Neil Fraher formerly of Swampscott and by her sister Patricia Fraher formerly of Topsfield. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Friday July 10th. at 10:00 A.M. at Our Lady of Hope Catholic Church 54 Linebrook Road, Ipswich. Burial will follow in the New Highland Cemetery 29 Town Farm Road, Ipswich. Visiting hours will be Thursday July 9th. from 4:00 to 8:00 P.M. in the Morris Funeral Home 45 North Main Street, Ipswich, relatives and friends are respectfully invited. In lieu of flowers please make a donation in Marys name to: the St. Vincent DePaul Society c/o Our Lady of Hope Catholic Church,1 Pineswamp Road Ipswich, MA 01938. My memory of Mary Hoffman begins in the 1960s in building 40 2nd floor when Jake met and married a pretty young secretary. We all celebrated the event. Now a half century later, we all must say goodbye. It is a loss but her memory will live on in the minds and souls of those who loved her.
