Robert Secord

Robert Newton Secord, age 91, long time resident of Wenham and most recently of Sunapee NH, died at Mt. View Center, Rutland VT, on May 31, 2012. Bob Secord was born December 20, 1920, in Newton MA. He served in the US Army in World War II, attaining the rank of Captain. A graduate of MIT, his entire career as a Chemical Engineer was spent with the Cabot Corporation of Boston. Bob and his wife Dot were residents of Wenham from 1957-83 where they raised their four children. Wherever he lived, Bob was always involved in church and community life. He was a Wenham School Board member for 12 years and an active member of The First Church in Wenham. His love of skiing and sailing drew him and Dot to Sunapee for retirement. A devoted husband and a wonderful dad and grandfather, he was a kind and generous gentle-man who will be greatly missed by family and friends. He is survived by his wife of 67 years Dorothy (Ames) Secord; daughter Ellen and her husband Daniel Mckeen of Middletown Springs VT; daughter Susan and her husband Christopher Hoffman of Boulder CO; daughter Martha Young of Alpharetta GA; four grandchildren and one great grandchild. He was predeceased by his son Richard who died in March of this year. A Memorial Service will be held Saturday, June 23 at 11 A.M.at South Congregational Church, 20 Church Street, Newport NH.
