Joan E. Murphy
Joan E. (McTague) Murphy, 78, of Medway, died Thursday, May 10, 2012, at the Medway Country Manor Nursing Home. She was the beloved wife of Patrick Murphy, who died in 1997. Born in Flushing, N.Y., on Jan. 6, 1934, she was the daughter of the late Francis and Irene (Higgins) McTague. A resident of Medway for the past eight years, Mrs. Murphy had formerly resided in Franklin and was a home- maker for most of her life. She is survived by her children, Patrick Murphy Jr. and his wife, Maryellen, of Bogota, N.J., Eileen Bertoni of Franklin, Colleen Murphy of Saugus, Calif., Michael Murphy and his wife, Daria, of Palm Harbor, Fla., Brian Murphy and his wife, Sheri, of Canton, Ga., Kevin Murphy and his wife, Ellen, of Mattapoisett, Sean Murphy and his wife, Terri, of Medway, Kathleen Owen and her husband, Dan, of Lancaster, Robert Murphy and his wife, Debra, of Simpsonville, S.C., Vincent Murphy and his wife, Chrissy, of Howell, N.J. and Rosemary Celommi and her husband, David, of East Fallowfield, Pa. She is also survived by 36 grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; her brother, Francis McTague Jr. and his wife, Kay, of Pinehurst, N.C.; and her sister-in-law, Mary McTague of Yonkers, N.Y. She was the sister of the late Marilyn Fisher, Irene McCarthy and Thomas and Theodore McTague. Her funeral services are private at the request of her family. Burial will take place in Gate of Heaven Cemetery in Hawthorne, N.Y., at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations in Mrs. Murphys memory may be made to the American Heart Association, 20 Speen St., Framingham, MA 01701. Arrangements are under the care of the Ginley|Crowley Funeral Home, 3 Barber St., Medway (www.ginleyfuneralhomes.com).
