Christopher Johnson Obituary

Christopher Robert Johnson, 68, lifelong Concord resident, passed away peacefully on January 3, 2021, while surrounded by the loving embrace of his wife and daughter following a long battle with Lewy Body Dementia with Parkinsons. He was the cherished husband of Rita (Grande) Johnson, with whom he shared 44 years of loving and devoted marriage. Born in Concord on May 8, 1952, he was the son of the late retired Concord Fire Chief, Hilding 'Snowball' Johnson and the late Dorothy (Meyer) Johnson. He was a member of Concord-Carlisle High Schools class of 1970, where he participated on the track and cross-country field team. Chris went on to earn a BA in Business & Marketing from Northeastern University. He retired as Store Manager after a long career with Stop & Shop in Bedford. Back in their high school/college days, Rita and Chris met at Stop and Shop in Concord, where their love story began. Chris embodied a lifelong passion for travel. He eagerly explored as many new destinations as he could throughout his life, many of these trips creating wonderful lasting memories spent with family and friends. During his youth, he completed two cross-country road trips. He traveled extensively throughout Europe, and enjoyed camping and skiing. He was also an enthusiastic Boston sports fan, particularly the Patriots and Red Sox. Chris, a devoted Husband, father and grandfather, leaves his loving wife Rita, beloved daughter, Krysta Marie Johnson and her husband Kyle Robert Stanley of Concord, and two precious grandchildren, Skyler Marie Stanley and Jordan Christopher Stanley. He is also survived by his big brother, Edward Johnson of Montpelier, VT, his younger sister, Doree Atkisson and her husband John of Candia, NH, formerly of Concord, and numerous cousins, sisters-in-law, brothers-in-law, nieces, and nephews. Family and friends are invited to visiting hours on Sunday, January 10th from 2 to 4 pm in the Dee Funeral Home, 27 Bedford Street, Concord Center. All attendees are required to wear masks and practice social distancing. Due to COVID-19 restrictions, a private funeral Mass will be celebrated on Monday, January 11th in Holy Family Parish, Monument Square, Concord Center. Private burial will follow at St. Bernards Cemetery in Concord. Chriss Mass will be live streamed, and the link has been posted on the Dee Funeral Home website. The Johnson family wishes to express gratitude to the compassionate staff at Care Dimensions Hospice House in Lincoln, especially Kristen, Nadine and Dr. Patel, who cared for Chris during his final days. In lieu of flowers, donations in Chriss memory may be made to Care Dimensions, 75 Sylvan Street, Suite B-102, Danvers, MA 01923 or to American Brain Foundation, 201 Chicago Ave., Minneapolis, MN 55415.
