To Lyn and the family of “Dr. Courant”, I am so sorry for your loss.
Your husband and father brought me into the world of “Periodontics” as his dental assistant, when I was 19 years old. He had a desire to have the perfect dental office and the perfect x-rays. Wow, did I ever learn the art of taking x-rays that were perfectly perpendicular. Not only did I learn how to take the perfect x-rays, but also, I had homework of reading his college book on “Periodontal Disease” when I had to be out for a couple weeks.
He set high standards and instilled values, which made me look up to him with great respect.
He loved his patients and considered them friends.
Above all he loved his wife and his family. He lit up when sharing stories of what everyone was doing at the time.
I understood the affection, as Lyn started working at the office, when the children were in school, and we were able to experience her gentle kindness.
He was a fine gentleman full of positive energy. He had an insatiable love for the outdoors and encouraged me to cross country ski. To this day, I still enjoy it! He loved tennis which he looked forward to every Wednesday afternoon with his friends and colleagues.
He was a story teller of good humor, and often, very self deprecating, which made him laugh most of all.
Wood working was a hobby, but compassion was built in. He built my son a wooden train set and put together a little music box with a picture of my son on it. To this day the train set sits high, on a shelf in the living room, the music box, on my bureau, memories of days gone by.... Memories of a compassionate man who, with his wife, delivered this to us on the eve of Christmas Day, the year we lost his father, my husband.
I was blessed to have had years, at such a young age, of spending precious time with him, and learning of his family. He taught me so much, not only about flossing, but about life.
He was a gift.
To Lyn and the family, hold your special memories close to your heart, and he will be there when you need him, most likely, with a smile and a laugh, yet with encouragement and compassion.
My Sincere Sympathies,
Laurie Kimball

I was a former patient and friend of Paul back in the 1980's - 1990's and lost contact with he and Lyn when they retired from their dental practice in the Chelmsford area, but I never lost the fond memories of those days. To know Dr. Paul was to admire him. May He Rest In Peace. My Best to Lyn and Family.

Terrible news. Judy absolutely adored him and his wild and crazy humor. He was so full of life!! I’ll never forget playing tennis with him on his court and him chasing down every passing shot I made. He was relentless and finally ended up beating me. I always wanted a rematch but it never happened. Paul ripped into me once about not flossing, and I haven’t missed a beat since. I’m forever grateful that he got me on the right track. So sorry he’s gone. My best to you Lyn. Geoff

I haven't seen or spoken to Paul since he graduated from High School. Nevertheless, there are always a few people one never forgets. Paul was an officer in the GHS ROTC band when I was a freshman, and in my mind, was the epitome of what a a gentleman and superior should be. I have never forgotten that. Best to his family.
