Peter A. DeFoe II, age 53, of Stow, died peacefully on Tuesday, September 13, 2016 following a brief, hard-fought battle with cancer. He is survived by his beloved wife, Katie and his adoring children, Kayla and Anthony. He is the cherished oldest son of his mother and stepfather, Julia and Christopher Chase of Lakeland, FL and his father and stepmother, Peter and Mary DeFoe of Fort Thomas, KY. He is the dear brother of John DeFoe and his wife Jennifer of Harwich, Vincent DeFoe of Shirley, Stephen DeFoe and his wife Jill of Acton, Matthew DeFoe of New Port, KY, Katie DeFoe Morenou, of Fort Thomas, KY and Beth DeFoe of Salt Lake City, Utah. He also leaves behind many nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and cousins whom he loved very much. Peter was born and raised in Concord and will be remembered for his big personality and his passionate love for his family. Peter built his own business, DeFoe Trucking, that provided services to many in the surrounding communities. His amazing work ethic was appreciated by all who knew him. Peter had a legendary love of music, that he shared with his mother and brother, John during their weekly music trivia competitions. He has passed on this love and appreciation of music to his daughter. Peter was happiest surf casting on the beach in search of Stripers, and passed his knowledge and love for fishing onto his son. Peter was very proud of his children and loved his family dearly. Visiting hours are on Sunday, September 18th from 2 to 6 p.m., in the Dee Funeral Home, 27 Bedford Street, Concord Center. Peters funeral service will be held on Monday, September 19th at 11 a.m., in the First Parish, 20 Lexington Road, Concord Center. Officiating will be the Rev. Howard N. Dana, Senior Minister. Burial will immediately follow in his family's burial plot at St. Bernard's Cemetery in Concord. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made online at www.crowdrise.com/defoe-family-memorial-fund. Arrangements are under the care of Charles W. Dee Jr. and Susan M. Dee, Dee Funeral Home of Concord. I am terribly saddened to hear that Peter has passed. He was a lovely man, kind, friendly and hardworking. I met him when he helped me when I was restoring my home in Concord. We immediately bonded amid a shared enthusiasm for Neil Young about whom he gave me a book. I remember his joy in Blue fishing at night at the Cape. He is missed. God bless his family and lovely wife Katie.

I am so saddened to learn of Peter's passing. He was one humble man, never a bad word, generous, kind, hard working, honest with a heart of gold. His love for Katie and his children was immeasurable. Peter was a rare kind of man and he will be sorely missed.
Heaven now has one of the brightest stars in the sky and I know he will be looking down on his family every night.

I just found out about this and I am so sorry for all the Defoe Family. Peter was such a cool guy, always went the extra mile, never blew you off, and always asked how you were and actually listened to the answer. We'll miss you Peter, and we won't forget you.

I knew Peter for many years. Such a great guy. Always had a smile. He would light up talking about Katie and the kids. I got my truck with plow stuck in the driveway/ path to my door. It was the really bad winter a few years ago when the bankers where piled so high from all the snow, you couldn't see. Was worried if I had to get handicapped son out of the house, if he had a seizure, or other medical emergency, there would be no way to. I called and talked to Katie and she told Peter and he came right over. He told me after he plowed me out, then pulled my truck out, (no easy task, his tow rope broke, he had to go back to his house for a chain), that he had been up since the night before plowing, and had just walked through the door when I called. He must of been exhausted at the very least, but he still had a smile on his face. There are not many men in the world like Peter. Katie, I am so sorry for your loss.

We knew Peter when he use to come into the store for auto parts. His smile and laughter were a welcome sight. We shared many laughs and good times with Peter. Our thoughts are with Peter's family and we hope you find some comfort in the fact that he touched so many lives.
