Ruth A. Cottle

Ruth A. Cottle, 44, of Ashburnham, MA and former native of Concord, MA, died on Sat. Sept. 7th, 2013 at Health Alliance Hospital in Leominster, MA surrounded by her family. Born and raised in Concord, she was the daughter of Ann M. (Bobitz) Cottle of Nashua, NH and the late Hugh O. Cottle. Ruth graduated from the Concord schools, Alverno College in Milwaukee, WI., and later attended Antioch University New England in Keene, NH. for masters degree studies. For the past ten years she was employed at a systems analyst by SimplexGrinnel, a division of Tyco. She enjoyed reading, the outdoors, boating and gardening, and her precious birds, Fletcher and Floyd, but especially loved time spent remodeling her home. In addition to her mother, Ruth is survived by her loving companion of 17 years, Tim Zantow of Ashburnham; three brothers, Michael Cottle of Rindge, NH, Thomas Cottle of Goffstown, NH, and Paul Cottle of Townsend, MA; her sister Katherine Johnson of Webster, NH and their families; an aunt, Ruth E. Putney of Portland, Maine and an uncle, Kenneth Bobitz of Waterford, WI. She is also survived by Tim's family including his father, William Zantow of Cape Cod; his sisters, Tara Zantow of Boxborough, MA, and Tanya Marks of Higganum, CT and their families. Relatives and friends are invited to visit with the family on Sat. Sept. 14th from 1:00-4:00pm at the Acton Funeral Home, 470 Massachusetts Ave (Rte 111) Acton. A memorial service will follow at the conclusion of the visiting hours at 4:00pm with Rev. Larry Camerlin officiating. Interment will be private at a later date. Because of her love of reading and frequent visits, in lieu of flowers the family suggests memorial gifts be made in Ruth's name to the Stevens Public Library, 20 Memorial Drive, Ashburnham, MA 01730.
