Janis Kusins of Duxbury passed away peacefully at home July 31, 2013. Born in Kalupe, Latvia, Dec. 9, 1920, Janis served in the Latvian Legion on the Russian Front. He met Aina, his wife of 65 years, when he was wounded in battle and hospitalized in Germany. They came to America in 1951 and started their family shortly after. They moved to Duxbury in 1958 where they spent the remainder of their lives. He was predeceased by his wife, Aina (Mucenieks) Kusins, and daughter, Aija Kusins-Augis. He is survived by his sons, Erik and wife Janet of Duxbury, Ronalds and his wife Judy of Orleans and Valters and his wife Margaret of Duxbury; and son-in-law, Peter Augis of Westwood. He also leaves seven grandchildren, Kristine, Erik and his wife Amelia, Maruta, Jake, Mikelis, Mara and Mia; and two great-grandchildren, Madeleine and Michael. The services will be private.
