William Cullum Snow, age 91, passed away peacefully on February 11, 2021 after a long and courageous battle with cancer. He was predeceased by his loving wife, J. Anne Snow (Cummings) in 2016. Born on April 8, 1929 in Eastham, MA, William was the eldest son of Adeline Cullum Snow and Harry Howard Snow. He lived his entire life in Orleans, MA. William graduated from Orleans High School in 1947 and Worcester Academy in 1948. He went on to receive a Business Administration Degree from Boston University in 1951. Upon earning his degree, William, along with his brothers, Robert and Stanley, became the fourth generation to manage the family business, H.H. Snow and Sons, now Snows Home and Garden. William was the CEO and President of the business until he retired in 2005. Both in business and in life, William embodied the values of acting with integrity, respecting others, and contributing to the community. William took pride in being a supporter of the community. He was an original founder of the Cape Cod Foundation, a director for both the Cape Cod Hospital and The Cape Cod Bank and Trust Co., a devoted member of the Orleans Rotary Club for sixty years, and a forty-year member of the Cape Cod Symphony. Throughout his life, William was involved in several other local organizations, including the Board of Trade, Chamber of Commerce, Planning Board, Cape Cod & Islands Council, Boy Scouts, and Sea Scouts Ship 72. He also was a member of the Federated Church of Orleans. William had many passions, which he shared with those he loved. William enjoyed music and played his trumpet in the town band while encouraging his children to play in the school band. A lover of the water, William spent time on Orleans Town Cove, where he enjoyed windsurfing and waterskiing with his children and grandchildren. William was an avid runner (through his mid 80s) and enjoyed flying model airplanes. He had a passion for Hi-Fi audio sales and repair and computer programming. Each summer he slowed down and spent time connecting with his wife, Anne, and his family, for a week on Lake Winnipesaukee, where many cherished memories were made. Upon retirement, William, Anne, and other family members, enjoyed travelling within the U.S. and on several Mediterranean and River Cruises throughout Europe. He maintained a second home in Arizona for 14 years where he could visit with his daughters and enjoy the warm weather. William will be missed and forever loved by his family. He is survived by his three children: his daughter, Penny L Piazza and her husband, Phil Piazza, of Crooked River Ranch, Oregon and Arizona; his son, Sidney H Snow, and his wife, Donna N Snow, of Orleans; and his daughter, Susan L Snow of Harwich and Arizona. He also leaves behind his two grandchildren, Jason E Person and his spouse Romain Tsiplakis; and Catherine N Snow; along with his two brothers and their spouses Robert W (and Elisabeth) Snow and Stanley H (and Bonnie) Snow, both of Orleans. The family extends their sincere appreciation to The Woodlands staff and residents and the medical team associated with Cape Cod Healthcare for the love, compassion and friendship provided to William. A private service and burial will be held at a later date. For online condolences please visit: www.nickersonfunerals.com.
