Barbara A. Slade

1942 - 2016

Barbara A. (Pitts) Slade 73, of Hernando, Florida, died peacefully, with family at her side, Friday February 12, 2016 following an illness. She was the beloved wife of William J. Slade, and had just celebrated their 56th wedding anniversary on February 5th. Born September 12, 1942 in Boston, a daughter of the late Lawrence J. and Mary V. (Collard) Pitts, she was a former resident of Franklin and Bellingham, before moving to Florida in 2004. She was raised and educated in Boston, and until her retirement several years ago, worked as a direct care worker for the Wrentham Development Center. She enjoyed spending time with her family and traveling. Barbara was a former member of the Franklin Emblem Club. She was a former communicant of St. Marys Church, Franklin and was a member of Our Lady of Grace Church in Beverly Hills, Florida. In addition to her husband, she is survived by her children; William Slade and partner Barbara White of Upton, John Slade and partner Gayle Abrams of Bellingham, David Slade and wife Mary of Bradenton, FL, Steven Slade and wife Rebecca of Franklin and Kathleen Cummings and husband Donald of Blackstone, a brother Lawrence Pitts of Boston, 13 grandchildren and 9 great grandchildren. Relatives and friends were invited to attend her funeral Thurs., Feb. 18th at 9:15AM from the Charles F. Oteri & Son Franklin Funeral Home, 33 Cottage St. with a funeral Mass at St. Marys Church 1 Church Sq. Franklin at 10AM. Interment followed at the parish cemetery.
