David Lundin Obituary

David Francis Lundin, of Hingham, passed away peacefully at his home on Sunday, May 10, 2015 at the age of 71. David is survived by his wife of forty seven years, Denise M. (Driscoll) Lundin. Beloved father to; Mark D. Lundin and his wife Ryan of Hingham, Gretchen A. and her husband Norman Laplume of Hingham, Linnea M. and Paul Marks of Hingham. Loving brother to: Karen Lawn of Maine, and the late Roy Lundin. Cherished grandfather to; Nora, Adeline, Lauren, Kevin, Kate, Hannah, and Brady. A lifelong resident of Hingham, David graduated from Hingham High School, class of 1961. In August of 1961, David made the brave decision to proudly serve his country when he enlisted in the U.S. Navy. He served overseas aboard the USS Waccamaw which was a replenishment oiler and supported fleets of ships in numerous locations throughout the world. After serving six years in the U.S. Navy, he was honorably discharged and was awarded the Good Conduct Medal which is awarded by three consecutive years of "honorable and faithful service". David worked as an Ironworker (Local 7) prior to his thirty years of service to his community on the Hingham Fire Department as a Firefighter before retiring in 2004. He was a member of the Wompatuck Improvement Asociation, the American Legion (Hingham), and the Viking Club. The Lundin family would like to especially thank Dr. Michael Anderson of Commonwealth Oncology in Weymouth and all of his staff for their compassion and care provided to David during his time of illness. Visitation held at the Downing Cottage Funeral Chapel, 21 Pond Street, Hingham on Thursday, May 14, from 4 - 8 p.m. A funeral service held at the Downing Cottage Funeral Chapel on Friday, May 15, at 11 a.m. Interment with military honors at St. Pauls cemetery in Hingham immediately followed by a celebration of life at the South Shore Country Club, 274 South Street, Hingham.
