Janet Henriksen

Janet (Heap) Henriksen, 86, lifelong resident of Hingham and most recently of Canandaigua, NY passed away at home on Saturday, March 27, 2021. Janet was predeceased by her husband, Russel. Janet grew up in North Quincy and attended North Quincy High School. After high school, she attended and graduated from Endicott College. Janet worked as a flight attendant for Eastern Airlines until she married. Janet was an accomplished seamstress, and knitter, and enjoyed gardening. Throughout her life she shared her knowledge and love for these activities with her daughters and her daughter in law. As a former flight attendant, Janet was an avid traveler and shared a love for travel with her extended family, taking them to the Canary Islands, St. John, and Roatan, Honduras. Janets greatest love and passion was her family. As a grandmother, she was exceptional. A visit to her seaside home in Harwich Port was filled with walks on the beach looking for that perfect shell, making paper dolls, hours of reading together on the porch, & evenings filled with playing Rumikub. In her later years, Janet suffered from Alzheimers disease, necessitating her move from Florida to Hingham where she lived for two years with her son Peter and his family before moving to New York to live with her daughter Donna and her family. Throughout her disease, Janet retained her sweet, friendly, and loving personality. Beloved mother of Lee Zabel and her husband Robert of Hingham, Peter Henriksen and his wife Jennifer of Hingham, and Donna Cotter and her husband Donald of Canandaigua, NY. Beloved grandmother to Lora Zabel, Matthew, Ashley, and Emma Henriksen, and Bill and JJ Cotter. Also survived by several nieces and nephews. A celebration of Janets life will take place at a later date.
