Rene Cyr Obituary

Rene P. Cyr, 80, of Maynard, a native of Hudson, MA, passed away Wednesday, December 20, 2017 at Emerson Hospital in Concord after a period of declining health. He was the beloved husband of 31 years to Madeline Cookie (Salamone) Oliver Cyr. In addition to his wife he is survived by his children and their families: Kevin Cyr and wife Sharon; Monique Gaudette, husband Adrian and their children Chaney, McKenzie and Kelsey; Christopher Cyr and his daughter Savannah; and Bridget Cyr; stepchildren Fred Oliver, wife Chrissi and their daughter Jackie; and Debby Lalli and her sons JT and Paul; a sister Jeanne Blackman and husband Richard; sister-in-law Carolyn Cyr; and many nieces, nephews and their families. He was the son of the late L. Philip and Olive I. (Buteau) Cyr, and brother of the late Robert Cyr. Born and raised in Hudson, he graduated in 1955 from Hudson High School where he enjoyed playing on the schools football team. He served honorably in the US Navy from 1955-59 as an airman/aviation storekeeper at Quonset Point, RI, the Brunswick Maine Naval Air Station, and overseas at the Naval Air Station Morocco, North Africa. Following his military service, Mr. Cyr was part owner of Marys Catering in Hudson from 1978-88. He then worked for R.S. Lamson and Sons for 15 years, and for many years was the Manager/Executive Director for the Riverside Gun Club in Hudson. He was retired from the DOT Mass Highway where he was an accounting supervisor for District 4 in Arlington for 20 years. A life member of the Hudson Elks Lodge # 959, he loved vacationing in the Caribbean with his wife Cookie and spending time with family. Visiting hours are Wednesday, December 27th, 2017 from 4:00-8:00pm at the Acton Funeral Home, 470 Massachusetts Ave (Rte 111) Acton. The funeral Mass will be celebrated Thursday, December 28th at 10:00am in St. Bridgets Church, 1 Percival Street, Maynard, with burial following in St. Bridgets Cemetery, Great Road (Rte 117) Maynard.
