Gary W. Pratt of Bridgewater passed away in a boating accident June 5, 2021, in Plymouth, at the age of 68. Gary was born in Quincy, son of the late June M. (Mortimer) and William H. Pratt. Gary was raised and educated in Braintree graduating from Braintree High School. He also graduated from Bridgewater State University and took post graduate courses at Curry College in Milton. Mr. Pratt was an elementary school teacher for the town of Westwood and then owned his own construction company for over 30 years "Pratt Built". He was a friend of Bill W for 33 years. Gary was very active in Alcoholic's Anonymous. He sponsored many, helping them obtain sobriety. He always reached out to the new comer and welcomed them. This was totally in character with how he lived his life. He had a heart of gold and was there to help anyone in need, before he was even asked. Gary loved to travel, he enjoyed all sports, and boating. Gary and Brenda owned a cottage on White Island Pond for 25 years. Gary's biggest joy was his grandchildren. He took them tubing, waterskiing, fishing, and searching for turtles, over, and over, and over, Grampy never said no. Gary became an above the knee amputee in 2016, but his determination and perseverance was an inspiration to all He never lost his "Can Do" attitude. Beloved husband of Brenda J. (LaMotte) Pratt of Bridgewater. Father of Lisa M. Dangora of East Bridgewater, Julie Dangora Foley of East Bridgewater, Kaitlyn W. Andrews and her husband Tim of GA, Adam W. Pratt of Brockton and the late Mark E. Dangora. Father-in-law of Kim Dangora of Quincy. Brother of Susan O'Donnell of FL, Kevin Pratt of Pembroke, Judy Peylor of SC and Karen Pratt Tulip of Braintree. Grandfather of Payton and Hannah Foley, Zachary and Joshua Dangora, Gyana Baiona, Logan Pratt, and Gilbert Andrews. Great-grandfather of James Bush. Visiting hours will be held in the Prophett Chapel of Chapman Funerals and Cremations, 98 Bedford Street, Bridgewater, Friday, June 18, from 4-7 pm. A funeral home service will be held Saturday, June 19, at 10 am in the funeral home. In memory of Gary, donations can also be made to the American Diabetes Association
