Marjorie Ruth (Hollingsworth) Harrington passed away peacefully at home in the early morning hours of Sunday, April 25, 2021, surrounded by her adoring family. She was born May 9, 1922, the oldest child of John and Harrietynne Hollingsworth. Marjorie was raised in Peabody, with her siblings Muriel, Phyllis and John. Marjorie served in the Navy as a Pharmacist's Mate, Third Class from 1945-1946. After her marriage to Lee F. Harrington in 1947 the couple had eight children, Kristin, Carol Lee, Kim, Jill, Kevin, Brian, Timothy and Leigh. When her husband died in 1980, Marjorie had the opportunity to indulge her love of travel and visited countries the world over. She was also passionate about art, seeing many famous works firsthand at some of the finest museums. She was an active member of her community in various groups and stayed involved with Bridgewater State University as well as Massachusetts Maritime Academy at which her husband served as Dean and President, respectively. Marjorie is survived by her brother and children as well as her fifteen grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Visiting hours will be held on Thursday, April 29, from 4-7 p.m. at Chapman Funerals & Cremations-Bridgewater in the Prophett Memorial Chapel located at 98 Bedford Street. A funeral Mass will be held on Friday, April 30, at 11 a.m. in St. Thomas Aquinas Church, 103 Center St., Bridgewater. Interment to follow at St. Thomas Aquinas Cemetery.
