Mary "Mae" P. (Mulkern) Hanley, age 84, longtime resident of High Pond Estates in Bridgewater died peacefully on May 21, 2021. Mary was the loving daughter of Irish immigrants, the late Michael and Delia Mulkern and grew up in South Boston. She was a graduate of Nazareth High School and married Martin "Marty" J. Hanley in 1962. They lived in South Boston, Dorchester and then Randolph. Mary proudly worked for Verizon for over 40 years. Mary and Marty loved traveling with their best friends Al and Mary Proffitt all around the country. Some of their favorite spots were Vermont, PA, Maine, Branson, MO, and many summers spent on the Cape in Dennis. Mary and Marty also traveled back to Ireland several times. Later in life, after Marty passed away in 1990 she moved to High Pond Estates in Bridgewater where she started a new chapter of her life. She quickly found that her neighbors were becoming dear friends and she loved being with them on bus trips, playing bocci, and lunch outings. Mary took ceramics classes for years and gifted friends and family with her beautiful creations. Mary also enjoyed watching the Red Sox and Patriots. Mary was a caring and loving woman who never missed a birthday or anniversary without sending a card. She was a longtime member of the Ousamequin Club of Bridgewater and also a member of the St. John Womens Club. Mary was the loving wife of the late Martin J. Hanley. Sister of the late Father Michael Mulkern OFM, Frank Mulkern, and Robert Mulkern. Aunt of the late Paul Mulkern. Special "Auntie Mae" of Donna Porcello and her husband Jack of Abington, Maureen Calnan and her husband Sean of Quincy, and Marianna, Michael, Kathryn, and Evan. Very dear friend of the late Mary and Al Proffitt and also survived by her friends at High Pond Estates. All are cordially invited to a Mass of Christian burial at St. Johns Church, 210 Central St. East Bridgewater on Saturday May 29 at 12 pm. Burial will be held privately.
