Incredible help to the community and my church. Assisted in helping us get into jobs that paid well and was closed to our community. I will never forget his love for people.

To a true inspiration in my life. The man I grew to love and most of all respect. We didn't always see eye to eye on politics and social issues but he always treated me with love and respect. I loved our conversations and his "words of wisdom". Most of all, I loved that he challenged me to be a better me and he lead... by example. Mathew "Papa", I hope your weary body is at peace. Thanks for your acceptance, friendship, and unconditional love. My love for you is eternal an d my memories of you are all very happy ones. With all my love, Donnette

To the Striggles Family,
Please accept my deepest sympathy during your loss. May you and your family find comfort in this passage of scripture, “I will lift up mine eyes unto the hills, from whence cometh my help. My help cometh from the LORD, which made heaven and earth.” Psalm 121: 1, 2. During this time of pain we look to the LORD, who will strengthen and keep you!

Dear Gloria and Family:
Matt was a wonderful man, a true friend and an inspiration to everyone. He was a great County Commissioner, always respectful of the ideas and positions of everyone and always willing and ready to listen and to share thoughts and ideas. One of the most honest and forthright people I have ever had the good fortune to know.
May God guide you through this difficult time. My thoughts and prayers are with you all.

Matt was an incredibly upbeat person always with a smile. He was someone I looked up to and admired. It was my pleasure to serve with him on the Bridgewater Housing Authority for 15 years. He was that rare politician who actually had and his used common sense in the decisions he made while a county commissioner in Plymouth County and as a long time member of the BHA. To Gloria, his children and grandchildren, Matt left an incredible legacy that few can or will match. I was honored to call him my friend. I will miss him.

Matthew in the 90's helped me find jobs for people in the Brockton Community.
Because of Matthew there are people living in Brockton who were once on Sec 8 and welfare still working on those jobs and owning there own homes. Lincoln Congregational Church has truly been blessed from knowing Commissioner Striggles. In life you find 2 classes of people : Givers and Takers. Matthew was a Giver. Blessed are they that die in the Lord for their works will follow them.

Although I only knew Mr. Striggles for 3 days while we shared a hospital room, I found him to be a fantastic person. His son, Darren once sold us a car when he worked on Main Street in Brockton. May the Lord always watch over you Mr. Striggles. A fine man indeed.

Matthew's inspiration and common sense approach will always be with me. Whenever asked how he was his response was always, "Fantastic", which was his attitude on life. I am a better person for having known him.

My husband Rich and I will miss seeing Matthew at church every Sunday. Even when he was in failing health and it was obviously an effort to attend, he was faithful in coming to worship God. He also came to my school many years ago to speak to students about the importance of a positive attitude in achieving success and the definition of true success. What an inspiring speaker and man! We offer heartfelt condolences to Gloria and her family.

Matthew was a smiling, familiar face around Bridgewater. He always took time for a conversation to find out how you were doing, and to see if he could help in anyway. I am lucky to have known him and considered him a friend. He will be missed by all who knew him.

An outstanding citizen and an inspiring entrepreneur. A can-do attitude and a smile for everyone. I was lucky enough to work for him at the cleaners for a year while in college around 1975: he was one of the best bosses I've ever had. Sincerest condolences to Gloria and the rest of the family.
