Robert E. Smith

Robert (Bob) E. Smith, 56 of Raynham, formerly of Bridgewater and originally from Rockland passed away on Sunday, May 29, 2016 after battling Frontotemporal Degeneration (FTD) for several years. Robert was born in Boston on Nov. 12, 1959; he was raised in Rockland and was a 1978 graduate of Cardinal Spellman High School. He had been employed as a salesman at Academy Medical Supplies in Whitman for 20 years. Robert was an avid Boston sports fan. He loved watching the Patriots, Celtics, Bruins, and the Red Sox. He enjoyed playing basketball and spending time with his family. He coached football, baseball and basketball in Bridgewater. He is survived by his wife of 34 years Catherine (Connors) Smith, he was the father of Robert Smith and his wife Tiffany of Aberdeen, N.C. and Kaitlyn Saucier and her husband John of New Bedford. He was the son of Agnes (Davis) Smith of Rockland and the late Donald Smith. He was the brother of Linda Vitt of Rockland, Laurie Hanson and her husband James of Rockland and the late Donald Smith and Katherine Vittetoe. Robert is also survived by 4 grandchildren. Duke, Rollin, Colton and Connor. He was a devoted uncle to Derek Smith of Dubai, Erin Martin of Rockland, Elizabeth Martin of Fall River, Meghan Smith of Rockland and Ryan Hanson of Rockland. Visiting hours in the Sullivan Funeral Home, 45 East Water St in Rockland on Thursday, June 2, from 4 - 7 p.m. A funeral Mass will be celebrated on Friday, June 3, at 9 a.m. at Holy Family Church, 403 Union St. in Rockland.
