Edwin Cook Obituary

Edwin J. "Ed" Cook Jr. died unexpectedly Jan. 16, 2014, at the age of 79. He was the beloved husband of Barbara A. (Cumming) Cook of Randolph; former husband of Mary M. (Foley) Cook of Quincy; loving father of Laurie Fletcher and her husband Craig of Somerville and Christopher Cook and his wife Jaunita of Whitman; dear grandfather of William, Lauren, David, Cheryl, Christopher; and great-grandfather of Kylee and Mason; devoted brother of Patricia McAnulty of Quincy. Ed was born in Boston, graduated from Mattignon High School and Boston College, where he received a BS in Education. He was a U.S. Army veteran. Ed was a teacher at the Washington Irving Middle School in Roslindale for 32 years. Ed took great pride in being a teacher and helping his students. Most recently Ed had worked for Sudbury Farms, Randolph, and also worked as a clown for fundraising and private events. He had a great sense of humor and loved to make people laugh. Ed will be greatly missed by all who were blessed to have known him. Reposing was at the Cartwright Funeral Home, 419 No. Main Street (Rte. 28), Randolph. A funeral service was held Tuesday, Jan. 21, at 10 a.m. in the funeral home. Visiting hours were Monday 4-8 p.m. Burial will be private. My deepest sympathy to eds family. I knew him from being a customer when he worked at Sudbury farms. Such a wonderful thoughtful man. Would always ask about my children who he 1st met when they were babies and him playing a clown, that was over 25yrs ago. His spirit will live on thru the kindness he showed others

i talked to Ed very often, he was a man of many great stories. i cannot tell you how much i will miss him...as will his cats!! hiy them stright up there Ed!!

We knew Ed from Sudbury Farms he was a such a kind and funnt guy. My husband always fixed his lawn mower when it broke.Barbara I am so sorry for your loss.

I knew Ed from working at Tedeschi's in Randolph, and there wasn't a day that he didn't bring us lots of laughs and lots of smiles.
