Rose Gabler Obituary

Rose Mary Gabler of Lexington died early morning May 17, 2011. Rose Mary grew up in eastern PA and was first in her Harrisburg high school class. She received a full scholarship to Duquesne University and earned both a bachelors and masters in mathematics. Subsequently she worked full time in the operations research dept at US Steel. Married to Raymond in 1971, they moved to Massachusetts where she worked at the Univ of Mass and then at Combustion Engineering in Conn. Relocating to Lexington in 1975 she worked for a time sharing computer company, an econometrics forecasting company and an entrepreneur software company in both the technical and marketing aspects of the computer business. In the mid 90s Rose Mary quit the corporate world to follow up on her love of music by playing the piano and organ which she began in high school. She became accomplished enough to be a substitute organist at churches all around the Boston area, and was the on-call funeral organist for a church in Cambridge. She belonged to two local music societies, being president of one. Rose Mary developed dementia and lived her last year in a nursing home. Funeral services were at Sacred Heart Church in Lexington on Thursday the 20, and internment was at Westview Cemetery.

Rose Mary was my manager at DRI - the times we spent working together were good, and I am saddened that we will not meet again. My best wishes to the family. She was a wonderful person.
