Constance A. White

1928 - 2018

Constance A. White, 89. Longtime Swampscott Resident and Piano Teacher of Hagerstown, MD, died on April 30, 2018. She was the devoted wife of the late Thomas Bernard White, Jr., with whom she shared 65 years of marriage until his death in February, 2013. Born in Swampscott, MA on Nov. 5, 1928, she was the daughter of the late Harvey Harding Beadle and Nellie May Van Blarcom Beadle, and a descendent of early settlers of the North Shore and Nova Scotia. She attended public schools in Lynn, MA, and moved to San Antonio, TX with her parents at age 13 where she became active in Girl Scouts and served as a day camp counselor. She was an accomplished yearbook editor, artist, and pianist, raised cocker spaniels, and loved riding the familys Palomino horse Breezy. She graduated from Thomas Jefferson High School, San Antonio, TX in 1945, and attended Incarnate Word College, majoring in art and music. When Thomas returned from his service in Korea in the U.S. Army in 1947, the couple wed at Christ Episcopal Church, San Antonio. They moved to the North Shore of Boston in 1950 when Mr. White joined the General Electric Co. in Lynn, MA, and settled in Swampscott in 1952 where they lived for 60 years. Mrs. White received her Diploma from the National Guild of Piano Teachers in 1950, and worked as a private teacher of piano and voice coach until her retirement in 2012, as well as a piano accompanist at Hadley Elementary School, Swampscott, and organist for the Swampscott American Legion Auxiliary. She was a member of the Legion Auxiliary, the Swampscott Order of the Eastern Star, the Swampscott Historical Society, and the Church of St. Andrew (Episcopal) in Marblehead, MA. Mrs. White is survived by her daughter the Rev. Dr. Pamela Cooper-White and son-in-law the Rev. Dr. Michael Cooper-White of Orrtanna, PA and New York, NY; three grandchildren: Macrina Cooper-White of Los Angeles, CA; Adam Cooper and his spouse Sara Blazek Cooper of Omaha, NE; Aaron Cooper and his spouse Melissa Ramirez Cooper of Park Ridge, IL; and great-granddaughters Marina Cooper of Park Ridge, IL; and Monica Ann Cooper and Tatum Aurora Cooper of Omaha, NE. Service Information: A funeral service will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, May 5, at the Church of the Holy Name (Episcopal), Swampscott, MA. Burial to follow at Swampscott Cemetery.
