Dana Snow Obituary

Dana Edwin Snow, 65, of Marblehead, passed away unexpectedly Tuesday evening during the snowstorm. He was the husband of Helene Stroh. Dana was the son of the late Edwin P. and Rosemary (Cruff) Snow of Marblehead. He graduated from Marblehead High School before joining the U.S. Air Force to serve his country during the Vietnam War from 1968 to 1972. During his time in the service, Dana was awarded the National Defense Service Medal, the Small Arms Expert Marksmanship Ribbon, and the Vietnam Service Medal. He was stationed in Cam Ranh Bay from '69 to '70 and participated in the Cambodian incursion. His tour of duty included many fueling missions. Working his way up through various public works positions, Dana culminated his career as the Superintendent of the Water and Sewer Department with responsibility as well in the Highway Department while also serving on the board of the Massachusetts Water Resources Authority (MWRA). He retired in 2010 from the town and worked for Maestranzi Brothers in Beverly until his passing doing what he loved; working on small engines and dealing with the public. Dana was a passionate golfer who spent many weekends despite the weather on Cape Ann Golf Course in Essex. He often was seen teeing off at the crack of dawn. When not golfing, Dana enjoyed traveling, photography, and was an avid Patriots fan. Heard today of the passing of Dana iSnow and my heart broke. having known Dana for some thirty years it breaks my heart to know I won't see that mischievous grin, or hear "Hey Jim" When he answers the phone. but most of all I will miss him when I'm standing on the first tee at one of the many golf courses we played together.

My condolences to the family. Last we saw of Dana he was busy with snow blower repairs at the shop where he worked after retirement. He had many years left to enjoy the fruits of his labors serving our Town.

The news of Dana's passing just took my breath away. Such a good and happy person. A delight to have worked with him for so many years. He will be missed by so many and I can't help but think about the dreadful irony that he would pass away while running his snow blower. They were his trademark. He bought them, found them, fixed them and sold or gave them away. Be at peace.
