Sally worked as a librarian at Harvard University and the New York Public Library before moving to Croton with her husband Bryden M. Dow in 1963. She retired as Head of the Childrens Room at the Ossining Public Library in 2012 after 40+ years of public service. Locally, Sally served as a trustee of the Saw Mill River Chapter of the Audubon Society and was a member of many other organizations including the P.E.O. Sisterhood. She was a longtime member of the Asbury United Methodist Church where she played in the handbell choir. Sally loved to play bridge, and was a devoted attendee of area concerts, recitals, plays and discussion groups. She was also an active participant in folk-dancing and Tai Chi, and an enthusiastic world-traveler. Sally is survived by her husband of 53 years, Bryden M. Dow, her three children, Gregory R. Dow of Briarcliff Manor, New York, Elizabeth Dow of Rye, New York, and William H. Dow of Moraga, California, and nine grandchildren. Visitation hours are Monday, February 1st from 2-4 pm and 7-9 pm at Edward F. Carter Funeral Home, 41 Grand Street, Croton-on-Hudson, NY. You knew me as Mary Simonson when I lived next door to you on Michaels Lane. Gregory was your only child at that time and I had 3 children. My Gregory was the same age as your Gregory. I was looking up the recent passing of someone else when I came across the obituary for Sally. I am so sorry to all of you for your loss What a wonderful picture of her. I know you will miss her deeply and you will all be in my prayers.

I was saddened to hear the news of Sally's passing. Aside from our contact in the Library, we had conversations about many subjects on the outside. Among my most pleasant moments with Sally and her husband was my visit to their house in Swampscott, Mass. followed by dining at a local restaurant. My best wishes to all her family.

It was with great sadness that I learned of Sally's passing. For over 25 years I worked side by side with Sally at the Ossining Public Library. Her professionalism, sense of humor, joi de vivre and optimism were always an inspiration. She will be missed greatly. With my deepest sympathy to Bryden, Greg, Will, Liz and family.

So sad to hear about Sally today. She will definitely be missed by her many friends and family. I was fortunate to work with Sally in the Children's Room at the Ossining Public Library for quite a few years and saw her devotion to her profession. My thoughts and prayers are with the family in this time of grief. May your delightful memories sustain you.

I have many fond memories of Sally reading to my children in the library's many story time programs. Her love of the profession was evident on a daily basis and it was a pleasure and an honor to have worked with her. She was greatly missed when she retired from the Ossining Public Library. My thoughts and prayers are with the family at this sad time. Chris Surovich

Love you Sally! I am so very sorry to learn of your passing today. You are the most kindest and warmest person I know! Your love for family, animals and our environment goes hand-in-hand. I will always cherish the days that I was blessed by you, listening to you tell me of your family and all those exciting adventures. And the joy of walking your dog, and listening to the stories about those adventures too. You had me for dinner and shared rides, to Audubon. The Love you have for God/Jesus/Asbury and Asbury's Families. I can just go on-and-on. God Bless you in your new adventures in Heaven with Christ. See you again sometime. Love, Ponie
