Stephen R. Cleary

Stephen Richard Cleary, 59, passed away Saturday, January 22, 2011 at the Kaplan Family Hospice House in Danvers, MA. Steve was born in Salem and grew up in Marblehead. He graduated from Marblehead High School and attended Monterey College of Music in Monterey, CA. He was a long time resident of Marblehead and was a former member of the Market Square Associates. Steve was a professional painter and musician. Not only was he a brilliant guitar and piano player (with Rocking Horse and The Marblehead Stones), but he also enjoyed restoring antique sports cars, reading, sailing and billiards. Steve survived by his loving parents, Donald Richard Cleary and Jean Alice (Eustis) Cleary. He leaves his beloved sister, Dianne Monahan of Biltmore Lake, NC and three nieces: Kaleigh Monahan of Charleston, SC, Keryn Schneider and her husband, Andrew of Atlanta, GA, and Kristen Monahan-Miller and her husband Andy of Orono, MN. He also, leaves three great nephews: Rubin, August, and Gunnar Miller. Surrounded by his many great friends and loved ones, he left us peacefully after his last jam session just days before he passed at the Hospice House. His wishes were to have no funeral, but a memorial service is being planned for this summer. A special thank you and sincere appreciation goes out to all his friends for their caring support during his illness while at home.
