Phyllis T. Forant
1927 - 2017
Phyllis Theresa Forant (Jodice), age 90, passed away in Key Largo, Florida on June 1st, 2017. She was the wife of the late Eugene R. Forant and daughter of the late Leon and Lena Jodice. Born April 4, 1927 in Brighton, Massachusetts, she lived in Mansfield, Marion and Plymouth Massachusetts, Montreal Quebec, Canada and Key Largo, Fl. At a young age, she worked for an ophthalmologist and then opened The Galley, a bakery and delicatessen in Marion Massachusetts for 11 years. After many years of retirement, she moved to Key Largo Florida where she became part of a small community in the Florida Keys. She participated in many social clubs, Scrabble Group, Book Club, Senior Citizens Club and Saint Justin Martyr Church. In 2008, she published her very own cookbook Dancing in the Kitchen. Survivors include Robert (Maria) Forant, Lea (Carolyn-Montgomery) Forant, and David (Theresa) Forant. She is survived by 6 grandchildren, 6 great grandchildren, 2 brothers Leo (Rose) Jodice and Fred Jodice, 3 Sisters Natalie Smith (Jodice), Helena Barrett (Jodice) and Rosetta Patterson (Jodice). Phyllis was preceded in death by 2 other brothers, Guy Jodice and Paul Jodice. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews in Massachusetts. She had a love for gardening, cooking and traveling. On June 10, 2017 there was a Celebration of Life service at the Murray Nelson Government Center in Key Largo, Florida. A Mass Service will be held on July 22, 2017 at Saint Marys Church, 330 Pratt Street, Mansfield, Massachusetts at 11:00 am. Relatives and friends are welcome at the service and reception at Lake Pearl, Garden Room, 299 Creek Street, Wrentham, Massachusetts, immediately following from 12:30 to 2:30pm. Memorial contributions are welcome and should be mailed to the Center for Independent Living of the Keys 103400 Overseas Highway Suite 243, Key Largo, FL 33037.
