William Hahn Obituary

William D. Hahn, 76, of Marshfield Hills, died at his home on Monday, October 22, 2018, after a lengthy and hard-fought battle with cancer. He was surrounded by his immediate and extended family. Bill was born and raised in North Fond du Lac, Wisconsin, by Herman and Jean Hahn. He attended the University of Wisconsin (Milwaukee), after contemplating joining the seminary, but chose a career in the insurance industry. He married his high school sweetheart Mary R. Fink in 1964. The couple made their way to Marshfield in the early 1970s, where they built a lifetime of friendships. Bill's career culminated with the opening of the Boston office of Palmer & Cay Insurance. His love of family, the outdoors, hunting, fishing, boating, and dedication to Trinity Episcopal Church were only the beginning of his many interests. He was sadly predeceased by his wife Mary in 2009. Bill was the loving father of Jill Mandile and husband Brian of Marshfield, Jonathan Hahn and wife Susan (Kelley) of Norwell. He adored his five granddaughters, Alexandra Mandile, Margaret Mandile, Katherine Mandile, Gillian Hahn and Mallory Hahn, who will greatly miss his sense of humor. A funeral service will be held on Thursday, October 25, 2018, at 2 p.m. in the Trinity Episcopal Church, 229 Highland Street, Marshfield. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Mary Hahn/Steeple School Scholarship Fund, Steeple School, 229 Highland Street, Marshfield, MA. A sad time for those of us still in this world, but a gloriest day for Mary and all those in Heaven.
Bill and I became friends our freshman year in high school. This friendship became almost a brotherly loved as he loved coming to our farm and I loved his mom and dad, who nurchured and mentored me. Their home was like a second home to me.
Many memories, including Dr Hahn taking his cadillac into the woods deer hunting with all of us young dudes.
Bill was not only the top of his high school class, but the class clown. He had no enemies - only friends.
Looking forward to the eternity we will spend together.

I worked with and for Bill at Sedgwick back in the late 1980s/early 90s. He was one of the nicest people I have ever met. I loved working for him. He had a gentle way about him and was easy to talk with. And he loved to talk about his family. He loved his family: Mary, Jill and Jonathan. He was so proud of his two children. It was so great having a chance to see him at our Sedgwick reunion. He was a one-of-a-kind, all-around great guy.
