Norman Walter Greene, 79, of Millis, died Saturday, April 10, 2021 at the Milford Regional Medical Center after a period of declining health. He was the beloved husband of the late Dorothy J. (Blangeard) Greene for 51 years, who passed away in February. Born in Franklin on December 8, 1941, he was the son of the late Charles A. and Mary K. (Diggins) Greene. He always told the story of how he was born the day War was declared after the attack on Pearl Harbor the day before. Norman was a resident of Millis for the past 12 years and prior to that lived and grew up in Bellingham. He proudly served in the United States Navy as a Machinist in the Steam Room of the U.S.S. Forrestal based out of Norfolk, VA from 1960-1966. Before retiring, Norm was the longtime owner and operator of Norman W. Greene Auto Repair in Medway. Norman was an avid NASCAR fan and enjoyed riding his Harley. He is survived by his daughters Deborah A. Atherton of Fairhaven, Julie A. McCarthy and her husband J.C. of Blackstone, his son Joseph A. Greene of Millis and his beloved grandchildren, Jarrod, Kaitlyn and Noah McCarthy of Blackstone and Danielle, Rachel and Sam Atherton of Taunton. He is also survived by two sisters Catherine Capozza of Franklin and Donna Loews and her husband John of Wakefield and many nieces, nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews. Relatives and friends are invited to attend his funeral service at the Medway Community Church, 196 Main Street in Medway on Monday, April 19th at 10 a.m. Burial will follow at Oakland Cemetery in Medway. Calling hours will be held on Sunday, April 18th from 4 | 7 p.m. in the Ginley Crowley Funeral Home, 3 Barber St. in Medway ( Please follow all required Covid-19 guidelines including face coverings and social distancing. In lieu of flowers, expression of sympathy may be made in Normans memory the Navy Marine Corps Relief Society, Attn: Development, 875 N. Randolph St. Suite 225, Arlington, VA 22203
