Florence G. (Goralski) McMahon, 85, recently of Old Lyme, CT., formerly of Newington, CT and Needham, died peacefully in hospice care after a brief illness on April 27th, 2021. Flo was born on September 30th, 1935. The daughter of the late Chester and Mary Goralski. She grew up in Rocky Hill, CT. She graduated from Mount Saint Joseph Academy in 1953 and UCONN in 1957. She married her beloved husband Walt McMahon in 1959. They settled in Newington where they lived together for fifty years until Walt passed away in 2010. Flo remained in Newington for a short time moving to Needham to be closer to her children and grandchildren. Two years ago, she moved to Old Lyme. Flo was a retired teacher, teaching in Newington for twentytwo years at John Patterson, Ruth Chaffee and John Wallace. Flo was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and friend who will be remembered as a woman who loved her family, friends, the beach, the Red Sox, the UCONN Women's basketball team, puzzles and new adventures. She is survived by her daughter Karen Strauss and her husband Greg of Needham, her son Kevin McMahon and his wife Tricia of Westwood, her five grandchildren: Tim Strauss, Molly McMahon, Katelyn Strauss, Sarah McMahon and Melissa Strauss; her sister Lois Arzolitis and sister in law Lee McMahon. Funeral services will be held at 10 A.M. on May 18th at the Annunciation Parish at St. Marys; 626 Willard Ave, Newington, CT. Burial will be in West Meadow Cemetery, Newington.
