I had the distinct pleasure of working with Dick on the Newton fire, and he was one of the finest men to ever wear the uniform. He was one of the early ‘union’ men, and his voluminous files on past practices and contracts served me well when I became President of the Newton firefighters, and his guidance was invaluable. He truly made a difference in this world and he will be missed. I would like to extend my condolences to the entire Beecher family, and may your grief be assuaged by the love and respect he had from myself as well as members of the Newton firefighter family.
