Dr. Robert J. Thomas, of Natick, formerly of Wellesley and Naples, FL., passed on May 27th, 2021. Beloved husband of Valentina (Chabanova) Thomas and his late wife Mary Ellen (Brannigan) Thomas. He was born on July 31st, 1928 to Michael and Mary (Connelly) Thomas. Bob graduated from Boston Latin High School in 1945. He received a BS from Tufts College in 1948, a Masters in Education from Boston Teachers College in 1950, followed by a Doctor of Dental Surgery from Georgetown Dental School in 1958. He served in the US Army during the Korean War and followed this with six more years in the Chemical Corps of the US Army Reserves. After dental school, he transferred to the U.S. Navy Dental Corps Reserve where he served for twenty-eight years. Retiring with the rank of Captain. Bob practiced dentistry for thirty-five years, first in Boston and finishing in Wellesley. During this time, he was a general dentist in the Boston Bruins Organization for twenty years. He was also a member of The Wellesley Club. Bob was the brother of Dr. Edwin Thomas and the late Eleanor MacDonald. Step father of Leonid Kudryavtsev of Pleasant Prairie, WI. Also survived by five step grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. In lieu of flowers, donations in Bob's memory can be made to St. Jude Children's Rese- arch Hospital, 501 St. Jude Pl. Memphis, TN. 38105. Visitation at the George F. Doherty & Sons Funeral Home, 477 Washington St. Wellesley on June 4th from 8:30-9:30 a.m. followed by a Funeral Mass in St. Paul Church Wellesley at 10 a.m. Relatives and friends kindly invited.
