Patricia F. Gebhardt

Patricia "Patty" F. (Capello) Gebhardt, passed away peacefully on May 1st, 2018 , surrounded by her loving family. She was a lifelong resident of Newton and a graduate of Newton High. Before having children, she worked at New England Telephone Company. After she had children of her own, Patty opened her own home day care which she ran for many years. Patty was truly devoted to her 2 daughters, Dawn and Jennifer. She attended their activities and was always there when needed - when Dawn or Jen moved, had their own children or needed help with a house project. Patty's long-time love, Doug Pedersen, was always by her side. With a Dunkin' coffee in hand, Patty was a constant in her 3 grandchildren's (Averi, Ryan and Drew) lives. Patty and Doug would make it to many of their dance recitals, sporting events or take the kids fishing. Patty loved ice cream, catching some sun and being with family - all three together was an ideal time! She will be missed for her quick wit, genuine personality and absolute dedication to her family. She is survived by the love of her life, Doug Pedersen, her daughters, Dawn and Jennifer, daughter-in-law Kelly, grandchildren Averi, Ryan and Drew, her best friend and sister, Maria, brothers Francis and David and many nieces and nephews, especially Jessie who was such a comfort to Patty in life. She is preceded in death by her parents, Phyllis and Francis Capello. Visiting hours in the Andrew J. Magni & Son Funeral Home, 365 Watertown St, Newton, Sunday, May 6 from 2-6pm and again Monday morning at 9:30am before proceeding to a 10:30AM funeral mass to be held at Our Lady Help of Christians Church in Newton. A final goodbye is to follow at Calvary Cemetery in Waltham. In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to the American Lung Association, www.lung.org.
