Renato Ambrifi Obituary

Mr. Renato J. Rene Ambrifi, 84, longtime resident of Beverly Farms, beloved husband of the late Loretta (Lang) Ambrifi, died November 29th, 2014 at the Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center, Plymouth, surrounded by his loving family. Born in Manchester, MA, on February 27, 1930, he was the son of the late Peter and Jennie (Sardelli) Ambrifi. He attended St. Margarets School and graduated from Story High School, Manchester, Class of 1947. An honorably discharged veteran, he proudly served his country as a member of the United States Army during the Korean War, enlisting in 1951. He was stationed in the United States for 10 months; then he was transferred to Europe, in particular to Russia, at the newly built Embassy, where, along with 7 other enlisted men were tasked to wiretap every room for security purposes. He spent 5 months there before being sent to Germany, where he met his Army sweetheart, Loretta and whom he married in May of 1954. Following Germany, he was transferred to Fort Monmouth, NJ, to the Signal Corps. He was honorably discharged from the Army in January of 1954. A lifelong resident of Beverly Farms, Mr. Ambrifi had been employed by Beverly Farms Motors selling and repairing Cadillacs for many years. He then managed Manchester Auto Clinic until his retirement in 1995. Following his retirement, Rene continued to keep busy as a Groundskeeper for the Seamans, Garcia, and Conrad, families. He was a longtime, proud and dedicated, member of the American Legion Michael J. Cadigan Post 46, Beverly Farms, where, he held several positions: three times Commander, Chaplin, Treasurer and Sargent at Arms. He was also a member of District 8, Essex County, American Legion holding several positions, most notably Commander from 1985 to 1986 and Judge Advocate for six more years. Many will remember Rene, fondly, as Emcee for the Memorial Day Parades in Beverly Farms, as well as in celebrations of Four Chaplains Sundays. He will be deeply missed by his loving family and many friends. Rene is survived by his two daughters, Cheryl Bemis and her husband, David, of Plymouth, Karen Knight and her husband, Joseph, of Brockton; his grandchildren, Stacy Cavallo and her husband, Brian; Michael Ambrifi and his wife, Jessica; Katie Dayie and her husband, Thomas; Loralyn Bemis, Joshua Bemis, Jeremy Knight, Brian Knight, and Vanessa Knight; his great-grandchildren: Noah, Jesse and Harry Cavallo, and Madeline, Benjamin and Levi Dayie, and several cousins, nieces and nephews. Rene was also the father of the late Ronald Ambrifi and brother of the l ate Erma Francini, Dora Gonet, Mary Reynault, Guy Ambrifi, and Peter Ambrifi. Arrangements: His Funeral Service will be held in the Peterson-ODonnell Funeral Home, 167 Maple St. (rte 62), Danvers, on Friday, December 5th, 2014, at 10 A.M. Relatives and friends invited. Burial in Beverly Farms Cemetery. Visiting hours, Thursday, December 4th from 4 to 7 P.M. In lieu of flowers, expressions of sympathy may be made in Renes memory to The Michael J. Dear Cheryl & Karen, I am so saddened to hear of your father's passing. I have fond memories spending time at your home as a child and he always made me laugh - and eat a lot! He was a great man who will be missed by all who knew him.
