John Zampine Obituary

John A. Zampine, age 80, of Scituate, peacefully, June 20, 2012. Beloved husband of the late Rosemarie (Winkler); and devoted father of John III of Hull and Diane Burke and her husband Dennis of Norwell. Proud grandfather of Stephen, Lauren, and Elise Burke. Brother of Judith Christensen of Weymouth, Claire Muollo of Quincy, Cynthia Toffoloni of Duxbury, and the late Ronald Zampine, formerly of Randolph; brother-in-law to late wifes brother, Thomas F. Winkler, III of Lexington. Mr. Zampine served with the U.S. Army and was a Consulting Engineer. Received Bachelors and Masters Degree in Civil Engineering from Northeastern Univ.; Braintree High School, Class of 1948 where he played football. Member of the West Roxbury and Dorchester Masonic Lodge. He held past Master and Secretary for the Lodge. He served as an active member of the Scituate Planning Board. John was a zealous Red Sox fan. He enjoyed time with family, fishing, travels to spring training, Italy and other parts of Europe. Relatives and friends were invited to visiting hours Friday, June 22, 2012 from 4-8 p.m. in McNamara-Sparrell Funeral Home, 1 Summer St., (across from St. Anthony Church), Cohasset, MA. A private funeral service and interment was held Saturday. In lieu of flowers, donations in Johns memory may be made to Scituate Council on Aging, 26 Brook St., Scituate, MA 02066 and KT/DA Donations Chairperson, P.O. Box 51362 GMF, Boston, MA 02205-1362.
