Christopher Osugi Obituary

Christopher Kiyoshi Osugi
Sept. 28, 1996 ~ Apr. 28, 2014
Resident of San Jose
Chris passed away on April 28, 2014 at the much too early age of 17. Chris previously attended Guadalupe Elementary and Dartmouth Middle Schools. He was a senior at Leland High School where he ran cross country for 3 years. He often spoke about his desire to make the varsity team, an accomplishment he finally achieved during his senior year. Chris enjoyed running in 10K races, and was proud of his recent accomplishment of completing a half marathon. Chris was also a second degree black belt in taekwondo and enjoyed the outdoors and being active. He wanted to someday climb Half Dome and go on an African safari. He especially enjoyed simple pleasures such as spending time with his family at home, playing with his dogs, and having family gatherings. Chris was extremely passionate about the welfare of all animals, wildlife and the environment; he volunteered weekly at the Wildlife Center of Silicon Valley and thoroughly enjoyed taking care of the rescued animals. Chris aspired to work outdoors either as a wildlife biologist or park ranger. In April, Chris was excited to be able to kayak Avila Bay and paddle close to sea otters and a pod of dolphins. Chris was also an avid reader and enjoyed listening to many genres of music; we would often see him wearing his earphones and singing his favorite tunes. He loved watching and cheering on the local sports teams, especially the Giants, 49ers, and Sharks. Chris is survived by his parents, David and Lori; sisters Ashley and Nichole; dogs Smokey, Mali, and Monty; grandmother, aunts, uncles and cousins in California and Hawaii. We will dearly miss Chris' warm and caring attitude, his energy, and his engaging smile. A private memorial service for family will be held to celebrate his life, at a later date. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in Chris' memory, to the Wildlife Center of Silicon Valley, or to the Humane Society of Silicon Valley.

Our dearest Chris,
It has been a long 11 years since you left us forever. I know it sounds like the same stuff every year but we miss you every single day. We´ll never see you grow up to be the man you were meant to be, but are forever 17. We still have Monty and Sadie. Both of them seniors, but they certainly love their daily walks. Ashley and Nichole will be living separately in a few weeks, which will be good for them. They are both still working with the same employer, respectively, as last year.
Your SF Giants are doing well so far this season and the Golden State Warriors are in the playoffs. Not sure how the 49ers will do this season. Seems to be a little bit of a rebuilding, but we shall see.
The Wildlife Center in San Jose is now just being used for animal intake since they recently built and opened the Larry Ellison Wildlife Conservation Center in Saratoga. You´d be so impressed with how beautiful the site is, and how much more space there is to care for the animals during their rehab.
So long for now, but not good bye. You are always in our hearts
Love Always,
Mom and Dad

I recently read about you in the POFS memorial book. Your mother wrote a beautiful tribute to you and it led me to this page. Rest easy, Chris.

Our dearest Chris,
Tomorrow, April 28 marks 10 long years since you left us forever. The day will be forever etched into our memories. Not a day goes by that we don´t miss you so much and think about you- little things that you would have liked, or commented; the young man that you would be today. You left us much too soon, but in your 17 years with us, you left your mark and your legacy. You loved participating in sports as well as watching and cheering on our local sports teams. You also loved taking care of our dogs as well as the animals at the Wildlife Center. If you were still with us, I imagine that you would likely be doing something with animals or the outdoors.
We know you are no longer suffering, and that you are at peace with our other family and animals in the great beyond. Until we meet again, please know that we will always love you, to infinity and beyond!
Huge hugs,
Mom and Dad

Dear Chris,
It has been 9 long years since you left us and not a day goes by that we don´t think about you- whether it´s something you said or did, or an expression, and especially when we´re talking about the dogs or the local sports teams- 49ers, Giants.
We know you are no longer in pain but the pain of you leaving us will always be here- in our hearts and thoughts. We love you so much. Until we meet again.

Our Dearest Chris,
It has been 8 long years since you left us and not a day goes by that we don´t think of you and miss you. This time of year is especially a very difficult time of the year for us because it reminds us how much we all miss the love and joy you brought to our family. The memories of all of the happy times remain with us and will always have a most special place in our hearts. Until we meet again.

Our dearest Chris We love you very much and wish you could be with us on what would be your 25th birthday. We miss you every day and know that you are with the family and doggies. Your Giants team is having a great season and even though it´s an odd numbered year they may go all the way this year... they´ve got to stay ahead of those pesky Dodgers!
The doggies are doing well and have become quite personable. `Til we meet up again, love you so much Love mom and dad

Dear Chris,
Today would have been your 24th birthday. We are so sad that you are no longer on this earth to celebrate your life. We will always remember you and cherish our memories of you, our family, and friends. May you watch over all of our 2 and 4-legged family that are with you. It has been a horrendous year, and we can only hope that 2021 will be better. Nichole and Ashley are doing well and we know you would be proud of them. Monty is still Monty, but we love him just the same. You would so love Sadie. She loves playing, and we hope to try some agility training with her. With all of our love. Mom and Dad❤❤❤

Hey Chris. Im so grateful for the time we had way back when and to have grown up with you. There are countless memories from elementary and middle school, and I have been concentrating on them a lot recently. You brought us a lot of joy with the time you had. I always remember you for having such a strong spirit and wisdom even when we were so young. Still reminiscing and missing you all this time later.

Our Dearest Chris,

Missing you will always be a part of our lives, as well as the memories of the many special moments we shared together as a family. We are sad that you are no longer with us to create new ones. We still remember the day you picked out Monty at the animal shelter, knowing that he was the one who really needed our help to get better. You would be very happy to know that he is doing very well and has even found a new best friend in Sadie. You will always be in our hearts. Until we are reunited again, please watch over everyone
for us.

Dear Chris,
I can't tell you how much I miss you. This year seems especially difficult... perhaps because Nichole is graduating next week and I think of all that you are missing out from. I know you are no longer in pain and you are no longer sad. And for that I am thankful. I just wish you were here with us.
We will always love you and will remember you forever❤❤❤
Lighting a candle for you.

I sat across Chris for an entire semester in his Junior year. As we worked on our art pieces, we talked every single day and I considered him my good friend.
I'll always remember his winning smile and how happy he was with his tiger piece. I think about him and miss him a lot, and I'm always praying for your family.

April 28, 2017

My dear Chris,
It has been 3 years since you left us, and with it, you also left a big void in our hearts. Not a day goes by that we don't think about you. I so wish you were still here to share conversations, hugs, and new memories. It hurts so much for me to imagine that I will never see you grow up to the man you would have become- college, relationships, getting married, and having your own children. I hope that you are at peace and having a good time with all of your grandparents, and all of our doggies, especially Smokey and Mali. Monty is doing good and we have a new puppy Sadie. You would love playing with her. Ashley will be graduating next month and starting grad school in the fall. Nichole will be entering her 4th year and trying to decide what she specifically wants to focus on. Dad will be retiring at the end of the year. I am recovering from knee surgery. We love you with all our heart, and ache to see you again. Love you to the moon and back. Mom

December 25, 2015

Dear Chris,
This is the second Christmas / holiday season without you here and I miss you so much it hurts. I remember so vividly how you enjoyed seeing the lights and decorating, and spending time with the family. Dad, Ashley, and Nichole went up to Auntie Lynn and Uncle Neils's house yesterday. I stayed home with the dogs since I recently had surgery. You would have approved since Monty and Smokey had the pleasure of my company. They went to the Warriors game today with Uncle Jimmy. You would have enjoyed watching basketball, and the Warriors are a fun team to watch. I wish I could talk to you, hug you, and watch you grow up, but unfortunately, now all we have are our memories, and photos, and videos. I can't bring myself to look through your things. Perhaps I will again, soon, but I won't rush it. Nichole and Ashley are doing good, as is dad. Smokey looks like he's got at least a couple more years, and Monty keeps dad and me active. You certainly picked out the perfect dog for our family. I hope you are spending time with our family members who are also up there with you, and Mali, Mindy, and Peanut Butter. I have so much I want to tell you but feel like I am rambling, so I will say good bye to you for now. Until we meet again, I will think of you always and forever.

Love,
Mom❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤

Dear Chris,
Today is exactly one year since you left us forever. I still remember you giving me a hug before you left for school, and I will always cherish that last hug. We miss you so much, and so wish that you were still here with us. Smokey and Monty are doing good. Monty is very energetic, just like you thought he would be. Please take care of yourself, and I hope you are having a chance to play with the dogs, and to help out any animals. I think of you every day, and will always love you. Until we meet up again, I am lighting a candle for you today and every day. All my love, Mom

Dear Chris,
It has been almost 11 months since we last saw you. There isn't a day that goes by that we don't think of you and so wish you were here with us. I miss you so much. Mali is with you now- we had to put her down 2 weeks ago because she couldn't walk anymore. I know you will take good care of her. With all my love. Mom

Hi Chris-
Thought a lot about you today, I miss you so much each and every day. I hope you had fun at the Giants parade today! Can you believe they won again? :D I wish i could have made it to the parade, but unfortunately I had class. Anyways, the dogs are doing good and we're all holding up, but of course missing you. Please keep shining down on us like I know you are
Love you! xoxoxo

My dearest Chris,
You are always in my thoughts and I miss you so much. I miss talking with you, I miss hugging you, and I just miss spending time with you. I am lighting a candle for you. I can't believe you have been gone 3 months. It has been 3 very long months. I am so sad that we will not see you grow into the fine young man you were becoming. You would be happy to know that the raptors- osprey are making a comeback, as well as sharks.
You are with all of our other family and animals. They are all watching over you. The fogs are doing good... Smokey and Mali have definitely slowed down, but Monty is as feisty as ever. He has your personality in him. I will always love you. Mom??????
