Jeanne Watkins Patten of Norwell, MA passed away December 15, 2018, holding the hand of her beloved husband Dave. She had struggled with complications of stroke and dementia and is now with her Lord and Savior. Jeanne was born on her family's farm in Cedar Grove, Maryland. After graduating from Richard Montgomery High School, she attended the University of Maryland School of Nursing in Baltimore. Post graduation she worked at the University of Maryland Hospital. There she met and fell in love with her husband Dave. Jeanne and Dave lived in Hampton, Virginia while he served in the Air Force. Subsequently, they moved to Norwell, MA where they raised their three children; one daughter and two sons. Professionally, she spent three decades in nursing; selflessly caring for the infirmed. Beneficiaries included the elderly and chronically ill at the Del-Manor Nursing Home in Rockland. Jeanne exemplified the best virtues of nursing--a life dedicated to the service of others- doing her best to improve patients' quality of life while also assuring their dignity in death. Jeanne and Dave were long-standing and active members of the United Church of Christ in Norwell, dedicating themselves to the important work of the church community. Her life was full and rich with many altruistic endea- vors to those known and unknown. Jeanne's Church life included participating in countless charitable events and community organizations. She frequently paid visits to and prayed with local folks who were not able to leave their homes. She would provide rides to and from doctors' appointments, cook and deliver meals to those in need. Jeanne and Dave also gave years of volunteering service with delivering for the Meals on Wheels program. Working to support their local food pantries they delivered food and groceries donated from local stores and restaurants--always leading with a charitable heart--donating her time, love and energy-well into her eighties-until she could no longer physically make the effort. Personal family memories are indelibly affected by her life committed to them, her work, and friends in need with her steadfast faith, kindness, compassion, and humor. She will be deeply missed. She is survived by her husband of 64 years, Dr. David Hales Patten, her daughter, Jennifer, her sons Arthur and Richard, along with his wife Lisa, and close family friend Julia Carson. She is also survived by family in Frederick, Maryland - step-brother Bob Roelke and sister, Carol Officer and their families. She is also survived by her granddaughter, Grace Patten, grandson, Benjamin Patten, his wife Ashley Bailey Patten, and their son (her great-grandchild), Henry David Patten. A memorial service hon- oring her life will be held at the United Church of Christ in Norwell, MA on December 29th, 2018 at 11:00 am. A collation will follow. Donations in her memory can be made to the Church: 460 Main St, Norwell, MA 02061.

My deepest sympathy for your loss. There are no words that can ease the pain of losing someone so beloved. May you find comfort and peace in knowing that your loved one is in God's memory, because those who fall asleep in death are precious in his eyes. Psalms 116:15

Losing someone that we love never comes easy. It is truly heartbreaking. May God's promises in Isaiah 65:17 comfort and help you.
