Linda Begley Obituary

Linda Alice Begley, 67, of Rockland passed away Friday, Jan. 15, in the presence of her family. She lost a battle to cancer, but not before spending eight beautiful months with her daughter and grandchildren while they knew of her inevitable passing. Linda is survived by her husband, Tom Begley; daughter, Nikki Custenborder; son in-law, Mitch; and two grandchildren, Stella and Wyatt. Linda also relied heavily on her brother, Bill Damon; and two nieces, Sheena and Sara. Shes also survived by step-children, Brad and Melanie, Kelley, Jeff, and Todd. Linda warmly embraced her step-grandchildren, Peyton, PJ, Sophie, Gaby, Tyler, Jake, Kylie, Brady, Caitlin, and Aiden. Lindas gentle personality leaves her deceptively accomplished and worldly. Her younger years were spent with multiple occupations in Boston during an interesting time for the city, so if prompted by others, she could tell stories that rivaled the movie Black Mass. She also devoted nearly 13 years to the Duxbury School System aiding students with learning disabilities until her health no longer permitted. However, theres no question her lifes work was dedicated to her daughter, Nikki, Nikkis friends, and her grandchildren. Her intuitive way and always having a sense of what people needed made her the go-to mom for a lot of people - the judgement free zone, but not without a high level of respect from whom she provided care to. In the wake of receiving sad news multiple times during her cancer battle, she remained that person to people and provided loving care to her family until her final days. To Stella, Linda will always be, He-Ha, a two year olds blend of Gram and Linda. However, follow Linda on a regular New England day and youd find her living the light hearted agenda we all desire. It might have consisted of strolling the toy isle of Marshalls for her grandchildren, sipping a Dunkin Donuts coffee by the sea wall, or having breakfast with close friends at the Mug in Marshfield. She will be sorely missed. Because Linda was so unassuming, many more people depended on her than she probably realized. She saw the world through a different lens than most of us. Linda might have left parting words that sounded something like, "Listen to each other more, simplify your life, take a few more days off work, and love your children." The family welcomes friends and relatives to celebrated her life Friday, January 22, 2016, from 10-11 a.m. in the Magoun-Biggins Funeral Home, 135 Union St., Rockland. A memorial funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Donations in her memory can be made to the Dana Farber Cancer Center, 44 Binney St., Boston, MA. Candi DiRenzo

Dear Tom, Nikki and family. The DiRenzo girls Kym and Leigh and their mother Candi met Nikki and Linda back in the 1980's at the Rockland Golf Course and became good friends while the girls were growing up and playing father daughter golf days at RGC. Nikki, your mom was a joy to be with and talk to when we had a cup of tea while you played with the girls played outside at your home in Marshfield. Treasure all the precious and beautiful memories you and your mother had and know she loved you very much. We are glad that your mother met such a wonderful man like Tom and started a new adventure full of happiness, love and laughter and was a lucky lady to have such a loving family adore her. You are in our thoughts and prayers. Candi, Kimberly and Leigh DiRenzo
