To the family, many, many friends, and fans of this great person who played second baseman with the Boston Red Sox. Mr. Jerry Remy was an All-Star second baseman for the Boston Red Sox as well as a color commentator after his retirement. He had a wonderful career in the sport of baseball. May you find comfort in your wealth of fond memories together with Mr. Jerry Remy. May the God of comfort bless your grieving hearts with strength, loving kindness and peace as the world copes with the loss of Mr. Jerry Remy.

Dear Phoebe and family, I know how you feel. My parents both suffered and died from lung cancer. It’s a horrible thing. I wish you sweet memories of your husband who seemed to be a very kind, funny person. I’m truly sorry that your family has gone through so much. Love from an old fan. Jerry Remy was such an icon in Boston. For all of New England for that matter. The transition from player to broadcaster was very enjoyable to watch! I am a life long Red Sox fan and loved watching him on the playing field show off his speed, to hearing him in the booth showcasing his sense of humor. I am sure that I share the same sentiment as do thousands of his fans when I say he will be missed. I offer my sincere condolences to his family. I also have offered up a Holy Rosary today in his name. God Bless him and his family.

I still haven't wrapped my head around the fact that he's gone. It will come crashing down on all the fans when spring training games start. He was a consummate human being who came into our living rooms every day during the season, and he made us feel welcome and a part of whatever was going on in the game, and in the booth. The memories I have of laughing so hard during a game at his antics will never leave me, and for that, I am grateful to a man I will miss terribly. It is truly the end of an era in Red Sox baseball, and the games will never be the same. I hope that his family can take solace in the fact that so many people loved him, and are grieving with them, even in a small way.

Being 25 years old in Boston, I feel as if Boston sports have really shaped my life. That being said there has been one go to in media, Jerry Remy was NESN, was Baseball and was Red Sox nation.
Remy wasn’t just a connection between the team and media but a true community member.
(Myself) Growing up in Waltham, Mr. Remy was frequently out. I remember the first time running into him around age 10 (2007ish). Remy was dining in an UNO’s and graciously signed my ball and spent a few minutes saying hello. Nothing to him but made my year.
As years went on I became the bartender/ head server at a popular Italian chain in Waltham. Mr.Remy was a frequent visitor. Of course polite and a good tipper but always a genuine person.
Hearing the most well known voice of my life ordering chicken piccata and a Pinot Grigio was an experience to say the least. Mr. Remy was always polite, gracious and never carried himself above anyone else.
He seemed to have a great gauge of self importance. Never “big timed” anyone while also signing any autograph requested.
Mr.Remy was a true gentleman. They say you can tell a lot about a person by how they treat the smallest people in there lives and no matter the situation Mr.Remy treated everyone below him with class and respect.
I know I’m one of many people who was lucky enough to experience the real life link between the Red Sox and my life. That’s what Mr.Remy did, baseball seemed casual, friendly and there was always a friend there to narrate.
Thanks for the years of joy.

Jerry was a most sincere, honest and lovable human being. He WAS Red Sox Nation!! He was in our home ever since the first day he played with the Red Sox and then to broadcasting. He was a fighter for sure and bless him for going to the game and throwing the first pitch to Eck! Loved listening to him with Don Orsillo, made us laugh so much! They were the BEST broadcasters of all time.
You are now free of the cancer, Jerry, and in God’s hands. Your spirit will always live on. Our condolences to your entire family.

To the family of Jerry Remy. Jerry was the friend I never met. His knowledge of baseball made him a star, his love for the Red Sox made him a home town hero. When we moved 1400 miles away I immediately began paying ridiculous amounts of money to Direct TV so we would still have NESN, and still have Jerry. His laughter and sense of fun will stay with me always. I hope you knowing Jerry touched so many is a small comfort. It means a great deal to me. RIP dear friend.

Every season (30) I would watch the red Sox w my eyes closed so I could hear the remdawg’s voice. The first game was always amazing having him in the booth. No doubt I will REALLY miss him. I have a tradition of taking out my small Wally and placing him near the t.v. Until the season was over. Then I would put him away. Not now He will remain out. I’m so sorry for your loss. I know I’m just a fan however I know he is missed by everyone. Fenway has lost our king. Again I’m so sorry

Living in Fall River and Somerset all my life and being a contemporary I followed Jerry's career throughout his life . Although I never met him , I enjoyed watching and cheering his style of play . He was always all TEAM yet excelled at so many of the little things that made him an All Star second basemen .
As an announcer Jerry always made me feel like we were just two friends sitting together in the broadcast booth enjoying the joys and struggles the Red Sox presented to us daily .
You will be missed Jerry ! Well done !
God Bless you and your family !
May your soul REST in PEACE !!!!!!!

I graduated from Somerset High School in 1964. Jerry and I played on the same intramural basketball team in Somerset, MA during the baseball off-season. My oldest daughter, Kathy Lynn De Mello, suffered and passed away from Leukemia in February 1980. After her passing, I conducted Skate A Thons in Seekonk, MA to raise money for the Leukemia Society.
Gerry was kind enough to attend these events and brought fellow ballplayers such as Carlton Fisk, Louis Tiant, and others. He was solely responsible for the Skating Events being a financial success. I have added a photo of Jerry, myself, and Kathy at a Red Sox game in September 1979. After the game, Jerry got Kathy an autographed ball from the 1979 Red Sox team. The world has lost a great man who definitely made the world a better place. I send my condolences to his wife, Phoebe, and his family. I will forever be indebted to Jerry for his assistance during Leukemia Society fundraises, his playing for the Red Sox, and the color commentary in the NESN booth. "Rest In Peace RemDawg." "You Are The Best."

I watched Jerry play in 1978, which is when I started watching the Red Sox, and have been a fan ever since. I have moved to many states since then. The one constant was knowing that I would be listening to Jerry’s voice wherever I was living at the time. Hearing him brought me back home to MA. Red Sox broadcasts will never be the same. To the Remy family my deepest sympathy. I feel like Jerry has been a part of my life for so long. Watched Jerry play for Red Sox and listened to him broadcast the games. His passion for Red Sox Nation was unquestionable. JERRYis Red Sox Nation. I´ve prayed for him thru all the turmoil he and your family have gone thru. I´ve prayed every day for recovery and was overjoyed when he was back in the booth. Watching and listening to games now without Jerry will be very difficult. My pay your memories sustain you now and forever and May you know that Jerry will live on in our hearts but rejoicing in he is now resting in the arms of Jesus and be broadcasting games in heaven. RIP Jerry and you may be gone from our lives on earth but you will always be in our hearts and in the hearts of all of Red Sox Nation. To the Remy family sending love and a huge hug

Jerry was the first professional athlete I ever met. In the late 70s/early 80s Jerry returned to Fall River for an autograph session. I was an awestruck 11-year-old...here was a real life Red Sox talking to me about my Little League career, lol. When I told him that I was a second baseman he smiled and said "practice turning the double play." I always remembered that day. Rest In Peace, Mr. Remy.

Unlike Phil Rizzuto of the NYY, who was a total homer, Jerry always spoke the truth. That the RedSox allowed him to do so is a credit to them. But THANKS Jerry for being so honest and entertaining. You are already missed !!

Jerry Remy made the Red Sox games so much fun to watch. His sense of humor and knowledge of the game was enjoyed by every generation. I have many fond memories of watching together with my parents and later with my own kids. When the game began to drag or if we were losing badly, he’d always find some alternate entertainment, sometimes at the expense of some random fan but always heartfelt. I learned so much about baseball from him and loved hearing his stories about his days as a player. He’ll be sorely missed by all.
