Leonard Fuhrer Obituary

Leonard Fuhrer, 83, of Wellesley, MA and Palm Beach Gardens, FL passed away on September 20th with his loving family beside him. He was born November 23, 1929 in the Bronx, NY and was a resident of Wellesley since 1977. The son of Hungarian immigrants, Mr. Fuhrer had a career for more than 50 years as a leader in the global toy industry. Mr. Fuhrer attended Syracuse University before joining the US Navy. As an Air Intelligence Officer on the USS Bennington, Mr. Fuhrer survived an explosion that killed or injured more than 300 people. It was an event that shaped his life and gave him deep appreciation for his family, friends and all that he had. In June 2013, Len and his loving wife Fran celebrated 60 years of marriage. They met on Valentine's Day 1946 and have been inseparable since. Mr. Fuhrer was a member of Wellesley Country Club and Temple Beth Elohim. He served on the Board Of Governors of Tufts Medical Center, Brandeis University President's Council and as an advisor to the American Israel Friendship League. He is survived by his wife, Fran, daughter Leslie Friedman (Richard) of LA, CA, son Robert (Judy) of Chappaqua, NY, son David (Cathy) of LA, CA, brother Bob (Joan) of LA,CA. Also 8 grandchildren who loved and admired him deeply. Services were at Temple Beth Elohim on Monday, September 23. Burial followed at Beit Olam Cemetary in Waltham.
