Maureen McDonald Obituary

Maureen (Duran) McDonald, a lifelong resident of Weymouth, died Aug. 23, after a brave battle with cancer. She is survived by her husband Dennis McDonald; and daughter Courtney Shanahan; and step-daughter Christine Gill. Daughter of Ruth E. Wood and the late James J. Duran Sr. Sister of James J. Duran Jr. and Paula, Susan Clifton and Rick, Patricia Duran, Elizabeth Rhode and Vincent, Jeanne Duran and Philip Cilwick, William Duran and Mary, Cynthia Nault and John, and Barbara Duran. Also survived by many nieces and nephews. Former wife of Joel Shanahan. Moe always had a smile and was kind, easy going and strong. She was also very passionate, loving and giving. Moe loved being surrounded by family and friends. She especially enjoyed the outdoors, camping and most of all, the pink on Peddocks Island. Memorial service in the McDonald Funeral Home, South Weymouth at 809 Main St., (Rte. 18 opp. So. Shore Hosp.), Wednesday at 11 a.m. Visiting hours were held Tuesday from 4-8 p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Maureens memory to Peddocks Island Assoc., 395 Belmont St., Quincy, MA 02170, www.islandalliance.org/donate. Moe, I miss you so much. We had the best friendship and you were my best friend. We may not have seen each other that much over the years, but when we did, we picked right up where we left off. Catching up on what was going on in our lives and laughing about nothing! Miss you lots. Love, Peggy
