Richard Jones Obituary

Richard A. "Dick" Jones of Weymouth, died April 3, 2013, leaving behind those he loved. Dick was a graduate of Wentworth Institute of Technology, with a bachelor's degree in Technology. He later went back to school and graduated from Boston University with a bachelor's degree in Engineering Sciences. Dick received a Certificate of Commendation for work on APOLLO Primary Guidance, Navigation and Control System for landing on the moon in the sea of tranquility on July 20, 1969. Becoming the project manager of the Massachusetts Water Authority, he worked on the Deer Island Sewer Outfall project. After his retirement, Dick became a dedicated member of the Knights of Columbus in Walpole and enjoy spending his time with friends and family. He was the beloved husband of Eugenia Jean C. (Morgan-Bates) Jones of Weymouth; son of the later Arthur and Anne Jones of Walpole. He was predeceased by his first wife, Mildred (Gleason) Jones. He was the devoted stepfather of Elizabeth Cataldo, Edward and his wife Nancy Bates, Barbara and her husband Joseph Mortland, James and his wife Valerie Bates all of Weymouth and William and his wife Michelle Bates of Norton; caring cousin of Sr. Eleanor Tierney of Kentucky. Also survived by many nieces, nephews, step-grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. Visiting hours were held Saturday, April 6, from 10-11 a.m. in the McDonald Keohane Funeral Home, at 3 Charles St. (corner of Charles and Middle Street), East Weymouth. Funeral Mass in Immaculate Conception Church, Weymouth, at 11:30 a.m. Burial in Fairmount Cemetery, Weymouth. See www.Keohane.com for online condolences or call 781-335-0045.
