Richard Coakley Obituary

Richard J. Coakley, 61 passed away Saturday, January 5, 2019 in Skowhegan Maine. Richard was born in Winchester MA, January 3, 1958 to Richard and Ruth (Peel) Coakley and was the oldest of 7 children. Richard was a 1976 graduate of Winchester High School. He spent most of his working career in and out of construction sites, driving trucks, moving heavy equipment. He enjoyed playing hockey, watching his favorite sports teams, car racing and raising his three children. Richard is pre-deceased by his son, Richard W. Coakley, and parents Richard and Ruth (Peel) Coakley. Richard is survived by his son Joseph B. Coakley and wife Maryann of ME, daughter Sara E. Coakley and fianc Bjorn Erickson of ME, grandchildren Mylah Maxim, Dahlia Erickson and Liam Coakley of ME and his sisters Laura (Kevin) Pickett of Wilmington, Jane Coakley of NH, Martha (Mark) Fraser of Woburn, Maryruth (Paul) Carriere of Woburn, Katie (Michael) Naylor of SC, and Amy (Jamie) Mabardy of Winchester along with several nieces and nephews. Services will be held at a later date in early spring. Arrangements are under the care of Smart & Edwards Funeral Home, Skowhegan, Ma.

So sorry to hear about "Richie". He was a gifted hockey player and my defensive partner on the WINCHESTER HS team. A fierce competitor on the ice and a great guy off. My condolences go out to his family and his legion of friends.
