Margaret Spreitzer Obituary

Margaret JoAnne Spreitzer, a devoted educator, loving wife, and cherished member of her community, passed away on October 29, 2025, in Kalamazoo, Michigan, at the age of 77.
Born October 6, 1948, in Allegan, Michigan, Margaret lived a life marked by compassion, curiosity, and a deep commitment to learning. After earning her Bachelor's in Education from Western Michigan University, she spent over two decades teaching at Martin Elementary. Her patience, creativity, and ability to connect with students left a lasting impact, both in the classroom and through after-school science programs that sparked wonder in young minds.
Margaret's love of learning extended far beyond teaching. A voracious reader with a vast personal library, she was also deeply engaged in politics and once ran for a seat in the House of Representatives. She found joy in nature-gardening, camping, and fishing-and embraced the outdoors as a source of peace and inspiration.
Her gentle spirit and generous heart made her beloved by all who knew her. Margaret was a devoted wife to Allan Chudek and a proud mother to Buddy Sasquach. She lovingly embraced her stepchildren-Shelly, Jeffery, Kelly, and Leanne-and found immense joy in her grandchildren, Elijah and Finn (Lue) Molenaar.
She is also remembered with love by her siblings and their spouses: Mary (Denny) Bower, Karl (Connie) Spreitzer, Jim (Kathy) Spreitzer, Fritz (Linda) Spreitzer, Matt (Denise) Spreitzer, Lilly Teed, Marisa (Ron) Stull, and Peter Spreitzer, along with 22 nieces and nephews whose lives she touched with kindness.
Margaret was preceded in death by her son, Jason Edward Franklin, and her parents, Joseph and Anne Spreitzer. Their memory remained a guiding light throughout her life.
Her legacy lives on in the laughter of the children she taught, the knowledge she shared, and the love she gave so freely. She will be deeply missed and forever remembered.

Yesterday

Marky was a true & genuine spirit who deeply cared for kids. As an educator, she would search for ways to instruct as each student needed. Her personal love of lifelong learning endeared her to her students. She always stayed true to her own moral compass, and a was a fierce defender of children's rights. I deeply valued her friendship, and she will be sorely missed.
