Anne Arthur Obituary

Anne Frances Arthur, 66, died Thursday, March 20, 2025, at her home in Lawrence, Michigan. Anne was born on Aug. 9, 1958, in Royal Oak, MI, to her parents, Sarah and Marcus Arthur.
She moved to west Michigan after high school and lived in Kalamazoo, then Lawrence, for the rest of her days. She was briefly married to David Dombrowski, a union which produced two children, Matthew and Jennifer Dombrowski. After the end of that marriage, she took night classes to get a degree in mechanical engineering, which led to her 20-year career with the Upjohn company, doing design and management of the pharmaceutical manufacturing lines in their plant in Portage, MI. She retired early after Upjohn was bought by Pfizer in 2002.
Anne was endlessly curious about the way things worked, both in the physical and mental realm. Her work involved continuous problem solving and creation of pieces, parts, and processes to make things work. In her later years, these skills were applied to maintaining her home, her land, and her tractor. She managed a flock of chickens for over a decade, who benefitted from her continual improvement of their coop, run, and feeding and watering stations. She was curious about what made people tick and, while she was truly an introvert and spent the vast majority of her time alone, she liked to understand people and see them for who they are. She was an avid reader her whole life and appreciated a good story with complicated characters and loved a good turn of phrase. Her bright mind and her dry humor were appreciated by many.
Anne is survived by her daughter, Jen Dombrowski, her sister, Betsy Fernandez, and her brother, Skip Arthur.

So sorry for the loss of Anne, the person I knew and respected on Backyard Chickens. She always was willing to help with good suggestions, and brief, and to the point. I´m not surprised to learn that she was an engineer. She was a smart one.
