I am so shocked to see this sad news ! David and Gerald are my 1st cousins that I haven't seen in decades, as life moved us all to different places and far apart from one another. As I can't sleep through the night, I will go online and google different things ... in this case, I was looking at houses in Newport, NC as I have friends that want me to move close to Morehead City / Atlantic Beach. I wanted to find my Aunt Mona's (Ramona Brown) obituary ... and then I saw David's ... I still can't believe this. I know that David is with the Lord and his Mama that I adored. And then, I looked up Gerald ... WOW !!! I know that Aunt Mona is so, so very proud of her sons !!! We had so much fun growing up together from playing croquette in your front yard, in Newport, exploring Fort Macon and getting on those canvas rafts at Atlantic beach all day long. Then getting on the bumper cars, eating cotton candy and climbing the sand hills and ran, as fast as we could, back down them and then climb them again. And remember Ocracoke ... oh my, what wonderful, wonderful memories. May God bless you and your Families at this sad time. And may David be traveling far and wide in the arms of Angels ... With my love and deepest sympathy. Dana Clayton Sawyer

David was a gifted instructor and a friend to all of us when he worked as the eastern trainer for DCI. He would often come by departments just to check in and talk. My prayers are with the family
